    Race on a great new course . . .

in the Mat Valley. VMBaH is organizing a race starting at Crevasse Moraine, then across the Matanuska Experiment Farm, around Kepler-Bradley and back. That's eleven miles of great trail, with over 1,000 feet of climbing. Lots of flowing singletrack and some fun and fast double track.

The race will happen Saturday, August 9th at 9:30am. Complete race details, including entry forms and race route map, are available at - http://groups.google.com/group/valle...ome-temp?hl=en

VMBaH is excited to be organizing this race across lands managed by three different organizations (Mat-Su Borough, University of Alaska - Fairbanks, and State Parks). We hope this is the first of many events on these lands.

Registration is limited to 60 racers - so get your entry mailed in soon!

Entry Forms are available at a fine bike shop near you - ask for them at:

    Backcountry BIkes in Palmer,
    and in Anchorage at -
The Bike Shop (Northern Lights and Diamond locations)
    Speedway Cycles
    REI
    Paramount
    Chain Reaction, and
    R T R

See your there on race day!

For the Anchortown riders that haven't been out to CrevMo or KB, it's a lot of fun and worth the trek out to the Mat-Su for this race!

    VMBaH tool trailer in action

Over the last week VMBaH trail crew volunteers have put in over 20 hours brushing and buffing sections of the race course. I rode the course yesterday morning, and despite the recent rain, the course was in great shape. There was no mud and very little puddling (entirely on the farm double track and easily avoided).

Did I mention - good cause?

The races are a collaboration of trail groups and land managers to raise money for Cure Kids Cancer, a Providence hospital, and support our local trails.
