    Pat Irwin around?

Anybody seen Pat lately? I've sent him a couple e mails and no response.

I single speeded my Ellsworth Joker, liked it, and decided to try 29 inch wheels to see if they'd fit. They do. Now I have a six inch travel 29 inch single speed with Sno Cat rims. Gearing is 40/14. I walk a lot.

    Pat is..........

    hi Ken!
Pat and Kathy drove to the Tok and planned to bike over to the Eagle area but i suspect the fires changed their ride plans, from what i understand, he will be back in Anchorage Tuesday eve.

It will be nice when your momma gets you back into kindergarden...for the 2nd year. Why don't you toddle off with your pacifier and play somewhere else.

Tanx Mon! He's usually so prompt answering e mail I was sure something must be up. Smoke is wicked bad here even; can barely see across the highway at times. It's a little better on the Cantwell side of the hill, but still very smoky overhead. Just not quite as thick close to the ground.

    Hey Ken,
could you post a pic or three of your 29er joker..
would it work with a full rack of gears?

    Thanks!

Don't have any pics handy, but I don't think it'll work with a front derailleur. The tire pretty much fills the void in the chainstays so there's little mud clearance and I suspect the derailleur would rub the tire in the small chain ring as well.

There's also a cable guide on the back of the seatpost for the front derailleur, and I occasionally buzz the rear tire against this on the larger bumps.
