    One less shop?

Maybe this is old news, but I'd never been in the place, so I hadn't heard that Pinnacle Mountain Sports on Abbott seems to be out of business.

After eating at Taco del Mar tonight, I walked down to look in the windows of the shop. The inventory seems to be mostly gutted; just random bikes, BOB trailers, etc., scattered around the floor. The windows are full of notices that the contents of the store now belong to First National Bank.

And by the way, is anyone ready to fill the rest of us in on the rumor of a new shop opening in town, or are we supposed to continue playing the silly little game of secrecy?

Them going out of business is news to me... but I think it was a series of events that probably did it to them.. A) Not being a year round bike shop B) Deciding to let REI carry Kona despite being asked by Kona if it was alright C ) Not taking advantage of a good (but yet obscure) location, and then relocation that got delayed several months so they looked like they went completely out of business. D) I know the shop was up for sale last year.. so maybe the new owner didn't work out all of the details..

Either way.. sorry to hear the shop closed.. the new location seems like it would have been a good one.

They should have made more of an effort though advertising its new location and carried some unique brands with local appeal.

I hope that people who had their bikes in for shop work were able to get them before the bank closed the doors...... Can you imagine what a pain that would be!!!???

Sounds good. I saw them over the weekend as I was in the area for the Mayors. Will have to check them out soon. Would be nice if a bike shop in town actually carried decent accessories..... What brands do they carry besides BMC & Fuji?

Hey all, I *just* came from Speedway. My front brake (Hayes HFX-9) puked and two other shops, which I won't name, were unable to fix it. So I dropped into Speedway and gave 'em a try. I just picked up my baby and they got it NAILED. Wow is it nice.

Lots of good stuff in there, good people, great service. Throw some beans their way and keep these boys in business!
