Smile Hot and dusty in Kodiak [o]

Well, as dusty as a moss-enshrouded rainforest can get, anyway.

Climbing to the start of the trail:

    Snaking through the alders:

Dan, the Turner virgin, does my 5-Spot proud:

    Cruising through the bear berries:

    Felix pilots the 6.6 craftily:

    It ain't all downhill:

But it is largely downhill :

    Today, Barny in the tundra:

    Hitting treeline:

Erinfish and Barny exiting the spruce tunnel:

Down low, the jungle closes in:

Today was hot and dusty. No kidding this time. Whew!

Grinding up the road climb. Every ride starts near sea level.

The start of the first lap off the top:

Then we climbed back to the top and headed down the opposite side:

Rockin' the cranberries below Kodiak's new windmills:

We haven't ridden this trail yet this summer and the weeds have totally taken over. It was hard to tell where the trail was at times. I will need to walk the whole thing with my weed eater.

Finally, we break into a patch of tundra. The bear berries and dwarf dogwood are going off.

This was Dan's first time on a 29er (my Sultan). He loved it. The 'Niner Borg can chalk up another assimilation.

The trail was seriously hard to see some of the time:

A quick hop down the road cut and then a short spin on pavement back into town:

A most excellent time was had by all.

Wow. Thanks for dragging this back up, I had forgotten what summer looks like.

If you want a SERIOUS Kodiak hit, I have a picture megathread over on Passion.
