    Hillside STA trails.

Hi, I'm fairly new to mountain biking and happened to have Wednesday afternoon off, a buddy and I were going to check out the hillside trails. Where would you suggest we start off from, and what trails should we check out? We are coming in from Eagle River. Thanks in advance.

Parking Lot outside Hilltop Ski Area. Head into Hilltop, take the first right and start climbing!

No doubt. Try to save some legs for the downhill part. I rode out there the other day and had to walk a few parts of, but that's because I am way out of shape. However the downhill is lots of fun. Can't wait for Alyeska to open.

Saw the same angry bull moose again tonight. Don't forget your bear spray and bear bells!

Don't feel too bad. I have to walk my Moto up some sections too.

One of these years perhaps I will be in some sort of shape to pedal up. LOL

I was thinking i'd continue to ride it and get my legs back, but then a friend turned me on to the shuttle from flattop. I'm not so interested in climbing anymore. If you're ever up for a shuttle run or a trip to Alyeska hit me up. By the way, were doing a couple of runs tomorrow if you're interested.

How much does the shuttle cost? sounds like a great time without the hard stuff.

It's not actually a shuttle. We start at the parking lot of Flattop, and ride down. Then get a ride back up to retrieve the car.

Gasping and sweating are more dignified that shuttling. Shuttles are wimpy.

    Kids Night Every Thursday?

Does anyone know what the schedule is for the kid's mt. biking program around Hill Top?

It would be a good idea to spread the word to expect groups that size on the trails on certain nights and times.

Nice conditions on the Hillside STA Trails. The clay is almost like pavement...

Anybody heading up there this afternoon? I'll be up there with my dad and our border collie.

That would be the Mighty Bikes group. Here is a link to their schedule.

    STA trails too wet?

Coming into the city for business and was just wondering:
Would the STA trails be too wet to ride tomorrow after all this recent rain?

    Bear!

So, I went out today for a little climb up STA/ Prospect. Found the very large aggressive brown bear hanging out on the South Rim trail. I contacted the Fish and Game dept. They said the trail is actually closed. I saw no sign of that, the direction I came from anyway. So be wary if your out and about in that area. I assume the F&G and Chucach pk will post more signs today. At least thats what they said.

Trail condiitons wore very poor at best on SRT. Give it as miss for that alone....

Trails are looking great. Some of the muddy sections are starting to dry. Probably go riding tonight.

    Lost and Found

Watched a helmet and gloves blow off someones roof as I was riding home on Elmore this afternoon. I snagged 'em before they got run over.
PM me if they are yours.

OJ/Cinderella test just to keep you all honest.

Someone found a kid wandering along the highway too. People need to take care of their things.
