    Idea! Flathorn Lake

Kathi and I rode from Point Makenzie to the edge of the Dismal Swamp on Sunday evening and were headed to Yentna Station. Riding was good if a bit punchy in places .Stopped and bivied when it started snowing to see what morning would bring. Morning brought 6 " of new snow so we spent the next 7 hours pushing the 16 miles back to the parking lot. Beautiful day and great training. We will try to make Yentna after the 1st of the year.

Good job! slow ride on Iditarod Trail Tuesday

Ed Bennett and I did a short ride from the Aurora Dog Mushers shed on Tuesday 12/29. Their trails had been recently groomed, but the high winds caused major drifting in any open areas. The good news is that with 29er SnowCats, I was was able to ride through the drifts, some a foot deep. The bad news is that I was only riding at about 4mph

I have heard that the trail is in to EagleSong Lodge on Trail Lake. Good riding ahead!
