    Hatcher Pass
    [Mat-Su] - 10:00 PM, Mon Oct 17, 2011 by Mark strabel

With 15" of new snow, it is like mid winter skiing. Groomed for both classic and skate. A little soft still but it will firm up the next couple of days. Remember, to buy your trail pins for all the different clubs. Hatcher pass grooming done by the mat-su ski club.

Big thanks to Frank, Billy, Bob for organizing and all who attended. Epic day with 2 hours of pushing, fun/fast downhill, and a long spin back to Frank's. Frank's warm chili and warm cabin were the highlights of the day for me!

    Beautiful day for a ride!

Here are some photos of the Dia de los Muertos Ride on Saturday! We pushed up & over the Pass, rode down for lunch & continued on until the end!

    Ha ha. That is funny

    The extent is

    70-100mm wide rims.

That looked like a lot of pushing.

The beautiful day and great group made this a fun ride, even though we had to push up the Pass and a bit down too. Frank's hospitality and Billy and Bob's company were much appreciated.

The logistics would be tough, but ending the ride once the trail hits the highway after Willow and shuttling everyone to Frank's house for a late lunch/early dinner would be good. Riding on the highway in the dark for over 20 miles was dangerous. The riders this year were all strong, but it could have been a much different story if the conditions were any worse. Glad the blizzard held off a few hours to allow us to finish the ride. Thanks to Billy for the warm ride back up to the Pass.
