    Bike Case For Air Travel

    Hey Alaska people,
I"ve got some air travel coming up and am looking for a bike case to buy/borrow/rent. Anyone have a case they'd be willing to let go for a bit? I'm extremely careful and mindful of my stuff!
let me know if you might be interested in helping a fellow mountain biker travel safely. Thanks!!

When is your travel? I have a few trips coming up and will be using mine, but who knows. None of the shops around here had anything decent in stock. I think REI had a few cases, but they were ridiculous, like $600 and marginal size. I got an Evoc on Chain Reaction for $419 I think, and it seems to have worked beautifully, well worth the investment. Not cheap, but I didn't even get charged by Alaska Airlines since it was 49lbs total. I was apprehensive for the Evoc, but it's really well thought out and has the necessary protection in the right areas.

Why not ship the bike ahead of you to a shop? I did this for a DH race in Hawaii. It was cheaper than paying the airline fee each way. I did borrow a Trico case from another forum member for a trip to. Iceland. TSA went through it and effed up my perfect packing job. I recommend and would buy the Trico case.

The eventual destination is in Japan. Looked into shipping it ahead but it got fairly complicated pretty quick,
