    Alta Rezia

If you haven't been there, check it out. I was digging through old bike trip pics, and found this one. So many big mountains with trails all over them through Southern Germany, Switzerland, Northern Italy.

Awesome. Would be nice to have access to alpine singletrack like that in AK....

    For sure

The sad thing is, we have so much alpine and such little in the way of bikeable, or even legal alpine riding. Maybe someday. Until then, it's a 9 hour non-stop on Condor to Frankfurt.

Germany benefits from centuries of trails having been built before the creation of the automobile. Now that the car is here, our funding for new roads all goes to automobile traffic. And almost all of Alaska's roads are new. Building trails purely for recreation is a much more difficult and expensive proposition. But yeah, it sure would be nice. It makes this right-wing conservative feel a bit hypocritical when I think that I'd be willing to pay a little more in taxes for trails like this.

Feeling hypocritical is normal for any right wing conservative. Like when they say thou shalt not kill.... unless for wars on terrorism and capital punishment...

    Taxes are great

I don't mind sending some in the direction of good. Trails, programs to help people, cops, teachers, firefighters, schools, etc. I'm a hard core liberal though. Tax the ass out of the rich. My measly salary barely helps.

My, how delicately phrased. I think you may have a career ahead of you in diplomacy.
