    24 hour 2009

I just got the go ahead from the State today to hold the race at Kepler Bradley June 28-29th. It is an 11 mile course with some of the sweetest riding Ak has to offer. There are three different land managers invlolved, so it took a bit of time. We also have the campground at the lake right off the Glenn Hwy, so there's lots of room. One of the conditions (having nothing to do with last year's incident) is that UAF requires everyone to be 18+. It's a bit of a drag, but the trails are worth it. We'll have info posted soon.

That is going to be a great place for a 24 hour event! Will you be pulling in Crevasse-Morraine trails?

27-28th. Thanks Dave-I think I got sun stroke or something. I could almost live here if this continues.

I'll be arriving back in Anchorage the weekend before that from a trip -- hopefully I'll be in town for a week before I have to go out for work... Saaaahhhhweet...
    waaahoooooooooooooooooo

Calvin : Ahhh, another bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs! The second bowl is always the best! The pleasure of my first bowl is diminished by the anticipation of future bowls and by the end of my third bowl, I usually feel sick.
Hobbes : Maybe you shouldn't use chocolate milk.
Calvin : I tried Cola, but the bubbles went up my nose.

    entry form and map

Here's the entry form, liability waiver and a course map. The course starts near the Glenn Hwy. The map is of the Valley race this weekend (which I highly recommend), but it starts at the other end. The single yellow line at the top of page leads to the other parking lot, which is not in the 24.

Oops, I forgot to move the 2008 maps down (actually should have deleted it) when I put the new, improved maps up the other night. This is a better map of the Mooseberry Stampede route, but you'll still need to disregard some of it for the 24-hr race.

The Matanuska Greenbelt group of the land managers and volunteers in the area spent quite a bit of time this winter developing the map with land boundaries and deleting trails that are on private land. This is primarily for everyone's safety and enjoyment since some of those lands are not maintained for pubic use. The old map was pre-sewer line and pre-IMBA trail so a number of trails in the front end of KBLSRA have changed. Trail signs will follow over the next year or so. Kinda takes the fun out of getting lost there, but still a fun place to play.

    Good luck with your race.
