widest tire for a stock seeker?

All of this lousy snow has me thinking about the widest tire my stock Seeker could handle. Without changing rims, how wide could i go?

My wife's Goblin (same frame) is running 2.2 with no problem. I have 2.4 on my Evo and they won't fit the back. Probably 2.4 front and 2.3 back would be the biggest. Remember every company seems to measure differently but I think that's the biggest.

I asked the same question and the response I got was the 2.2 size is about the max. I don't really think this is true, as I measured the bike and the Geax AKA's and they measure more like a 2.3. The clearance in the rear could fit a 2.4 tire, but there isn't much free space on either side. It comes down to how true is the tire, so no wobble and how much clearance do you need for mud or other debris. I don't know the answer, but I will pass along that I just bought a set of 2015 Nobby Nics for my seeker in 2.35 size. The front has more cleanance and can take a 2.4 tire. Also, as RSDSav said above, every company's tires are a little different width and not always true to their advertised size. This seem strange, but my guess is the size is what they design on the CAD system, and the true measurement can only be determined after they come out of the mold and fully cure. Just like on Seinfeld, there is shrinkage

Hey Bttocs, can you post some pics of the Nobby Nics on your bike?

Sure, I just mounted the 2.35 on the front and it has plenty of room. The 2.35 Nobby Nics on our rims measure about 2.3 wide. They are just a hair wider than the 2.2 AKA's. I am pretty sure they will fit the rear fine. I will post a pic of the front and if I get the rear done soon, that too.

here are some pic's I took of the 2015 Noby Nic on the front of my Seeker, the AKA is still on the back. The inside width of the rim effects how wide the tires are when mounted. I would say our Seeker rims are on the narrow side, so a 2.4 tire will not be 2.4 wide on our rims. The 2.35 NN is pretty accurate on the right rim, but it measured 2.25 ish on our rims. Interesting is the AKA comes out pretty close to 2.2 or maybe larger on our rims. Shows things vary a lot from mfg to mfg.
