    Spicer VS. Airborne?????

Any major reason to go with one as opposed to the other? (Spicer is made in the USA. If it's a tossup, I'll go with a smaller personaly owned company.)

    Spicer...

I can't speak for Airborne but, Gene is a nice guy and provides nice customer service. His bikes are fully customizable and he knows his stuff.

Are you talking Ti frame to Ti Frame? If so then they are both imported. Gene does make his own steel and aluminum frames though. And as Eli said his Customer Service is Top Notch (still an understatement). I'm less than 45 minutes away from Airborne's HQ and they are great guys and I get to see some prototype stuff out on the trails every so often when they are out there. Airbornes are nice bikes - one person I know sold a Lightspeed and got one and she said it was the best move she ever did.

I personally have a Spicer Ti singlespeed. Love it. Gene was absolutely the easiest to deal with and let me make any changes I wanted (down to the exact location of hose guides). I like the bike so much and dealing with him I also purchase a full on custom aluminum track bike from him after that. Yeah everyone may bash him for importing a Ti frame - and supposedly they break for no reason, but if it ever does Gene is there, a phone call away to make it right. I'm a Clyde (approx 215lbs) and I run the rigid Ti fork also and after 17 months I've never had any trouble. Other than that Ti SS made me sell my 2003 Heckler that I bought and barely road because I was on the SS!

    Hope that helps

    food for thought.

Thanks, guys. My only concern is that airborne has experience with making 29ers, but Gene seems to know what he is doing as well. The airborne has a bent top tube to gain standover hight, while Gene said that he would run me a size smaller. Too many voices in my head...
