    SEEKER -Tire Upgrade

I've reviewed 6 pages of posts and I still can't find the topic of best recommended tire upgrades including sizes for the Seeker. My original rear tire is getting thin and I'm going to be shopping soon. I remember reading something about Maxxis and some other brand, but didn't save the post as a favorite for a later reference.

If someone can direct me to the post I'd be much obliged.

I changed mine out to Specialized Purgatory 2.35, and went tubeless. Really liking the set up so far.

What terrain do you typically ride on? IMO that will be the biggest factor in your tire choice.

    As Soul_Chicken said... Terrain?

I went with Forte Pisgah/Tsali 2.3"/2.2" F/R and really like the setup. I run tubeless @ 23.5 & 25.5lb, 165lb rider. My trails are mostly hardpacked dirt/clay with some loose over hard or mildly rocky sections, trails are closed when wet.

So far I really like them, but the Maxxis Ikon/Ardents came up as a primo setup in my research. I decided to try the cheap route at a 60% savings.

I changed to Schawble Nobby Nics, 29x 2.35 front and rear. They transform the bike and are probably the best tire for all around conditions. I am 245 and I run them at 19 psi. They are high volume and have a little "fat bike" type of shock absorbtion. Huge improvement over the stock Geax's. There are a lot of good choices, but I wanted a one and done solution, not the best traction or the best whatever tire. Read a review at tweentynineinches.com

I took a lot of measurements on my bike and feel a 2.4" tire will fit easily in the front and just fit in the rear. It will need to be keep pretty true in the rear. A 2.3" tire is a piece of cake. I run 2.35" tires front and rear and plenty of clearance.

Having said this, every tire measures a little different even though it is called a certain size. The rim internal width makes a difference as well. My 2015 Nobby Nics measure about 2.32" and have plenty of clearance.

I just put a 2.35 Hans Dampf up front on the Goblin, I read reports they run a bit wide. There is still plenty of clearance making me wish I went with a 2.4 instead, but the tread is very aggressive and should really eat up the trails.

Snowmageddon here in New Mexico, so I will have to wait to try out the new rubber up front. In the meantime, I am taking out the Griffin to tromp through the snow!
