    Geax AKA 29 Question

Anyone ever mount these backwards? Looking for some more traction and heard you can run these backwards but I wanted to know if its any better.

I never tried mounting mine backwards, but I would assume the manufacturer knew what they were doing when engineering the tire. I would think they work best mounted in the recommended orientation.

EDIT: Shows what I know. I learned something new today!

If you run the rear tire backwards you get more traction. Remember though it will be a little slower and will wear faster. Running the back tire in reverse is a common mountain bike practice for decades.

You can definitely mount them backwards - usually the direction of the arrow on the tire is for least amount of rolling resistance. Mounting them backwards increases traction, but it will also increase rolling resistance, so there is a slight (but not noticeable) trade off.

Thanks guys. I had read a couple reviews on the tires and they mentioned running them reverse and said the rolling resistance wasn't that drastic. Need a little more grip for the uphills.
