    Roval Wheelset rear hub question

    Hi,

Just bought this wheel set and have a quick question please.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Specializ...rdt=true&rt=nc

Sorry can't seem to post pics.

The front hub is DT Swiss I believe with the dots on hub centre but why is the rear hub not from the same manufacturer or have the dots?

Also anybody know what year these are please and the manufacturer of the rear hub?

I assume this is the matching rear hub.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Specializ....c100290.m3507

Seems weird to me that they are not from the same manufacturer and can therefore not both be converted with end caps.

    TIA

    G

    Hi Keen,

    Thanks for replying.

I want to upgrade in the near future to a set of wheels that will fit a 2018 rockhopper frame now with front rear QR and allow me to fit a better fork later (15mm thru etc) as well as other better components (12 speed Eagle etc). I also want to be able to take the wheels and new components with me to a new frame if possible.

However at the moment I do not see anything wrong with the Rockhopper frame for a beginner.

I believe that DT swiss hubs are ideal for this.

Plus I have been advised that the best thing to upgrade on a bike are wheels and fork.

    TIA

    Graham

To be honest I like modifying and building things as a design engineer.

Shiny machined things excite me ha ha!

I believe that is an entry level wheelset / hubset. Would be better to upgrade to a better rim & hub. DT Swiss or Roval w/ star ratchets (350 series or better).

That is a generic Specialized hub, made by formula/joytech. It is NOT convertible, so wouldn't be a good candidate for moving from bike to bike down the road.

** Edit, the front hub "might" be convertible, but that is an older wheelset, probably from 14/15? and Specialized tends to not support there products 5 years old and older. I have a ton of end caps (all from specialized) but amazingly enough, none of them work on the specialized/roval hubs that I have in stock.
    Silly bike things happening.

    Hi all,

Well it appears that I was half right.

Wheels have arrived and the front hub appears to be a DT Swiss 240.

I have also identified that these came off a 2014 Epic.
