    Handlebar roll forward?

Can anyone tell me if it's normal for the handlebar to be rolled forward? I was just wondering since the lining marks on the bars seem to be going the other way.

Or would it mean that I should be using a longer stem?

The marks are not a zero point. They are for reference only.

Set the bar up so the grips are level. Not rolled forward pointing up or backwards pointed down. Ride that and see how it feels.

Are the clamp bolts loose in the picture? Or did you tighten the bottom two all the way? The gap should be the same top and bottom.

yeah the marks are just for you to be able to reset or adjust and know
where it is now, vs where it isn't

stems and bars do not always line up the center lines, so adjust it to how you like it and if you ever need to change things you can set it back. marks are great for centering side-side for sure

Riser bars are different widths and the rise amount is height. But they also have rearward sweep of 9* or 8 or 12. And they have upward sweep of 5*.
If you're rolling the bars forward you can avoid that with a longer stem.
You can also avoid that with a frame with more reach.
Current geo often has more reach so you can use a shorter stem.

It sort of depends on the stem manufacturer with respect to the gapping. My rental for instance is zero gap at the bottom with a gap on top by design.

Sounds odd to me. Never seen a stem clamp like that. The radius must be tuned that way? Still would like to hear from the OP, since he has less knowledge than I do. What is with these OPís that never respond to their own threads?

was gonna say, OP clamp doesn't look evenly bolted in, should be done as even as possible, then
    with equal torque to each
