    Fork upgrade

    Hey guys,
Not sure if this question has been asked a 100 times.

I've been riding the 2020 Trek Marlin 5. I know not the top of the line bike but I like it and have been having fun upgrading it. Regardless if the bike is worth upgrading it's my project.

I am looking for suggestions for a good but affordable Fork upgrade, I am still running on the stock SR Suntour XE. I do alot of trail riding some terrain rockier and steep then others and I am thinking that it's def gonna be my next upgrade. I was looking at the Rockshox Recon Silver RL Air.
But wanted the opinion of more experienced riders.

~Thanks for the help in advance

The Recon would be an improvement but there are better forks out there for the money, at least at retail-y prices.

It appears that that is a straight head tube, so your options are becoming somewhat limited on the new market.

Probably the best price/performance deal is the Suntour upgrade program.

Kind of went the same route with my 2013 Trek Mamba. Went from the stock heavy coil fork (XC32) to a Recon Silver RL for about $200. Saved about a pound over the original fork and got a pretty decent air fork for not a ton of money.

Had somewhat limited options to consider because of the straight steerer on my Mamba but have been pretty satisfied overall with the Recon Silver.

Look into adding an external lower head cup to accommodate a tapered steerer and open up your field of opportunity...d;o)

The Manitou Machete is worth a look.

Cane Creek does make adaptors for straight to tapered headtubes and vise versa.

Rockshox Judy Silver - heavy but cheap and it works ok.
