    2.6 tyres - Butcher or Bontrager SE4

Looking for a new all round front tyre , originally either the maxxis DHF or the DHR2 where top of my list as their ideal for the different terrain I generally ride but the cost of these is putting me off . I've heard good things about the bontrager SE4 and that the specialized 2.6 are coming up under size but they look great value for money . Also looked at WTB but they don't do the Vigilante this wide .

So has anyone ridden both of these or have any thoughts / recommendations ?

    Thanks in advance

I've been using the Butcher 2.6 in front for a while now. Plenty of grip and rolls well too. I only have one ride on the 2.6 Butcher in the rear and really like it. The conditions were awful (snow/slush/mud) and it hooked up well. While they do measure under claimed size. The added volume is noticeable and quite welcome.

Unfortunately, I cannot offer any comparison to the SE 4/SE 5. They look very similar to the butcher though.

Try the SE4. You don't like it, you have 30 days to return it for an exchange or credit.

    Yeah, on tires...

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. Just picked up a Maxxis Aggressor 29 2.5 WT for the rear at a price I couldn't turn down ... so may have to stick with a Maxxis front to keep my tyre logo O.C.D in order
