    Cool.
It is actually getting harder to make a choice on big meaty tires.
MMmmm, this or the rampage? Will hold off on the 'S' offering for now.

    IIRC, they're identical.

Rumor has it that the Neve's are a bit heavier (casing) and more durable.

Tomac level, that's a good thing for a Kenda tire, isn't it?
Time for a Tomac bike to match it!

Sorry. Typo on the site. Nevegals are only available in a 2.2. I guess we've been thinking about the Rampage too much lately.

I was amazed to see how close the tread pattern is on my 29er Rampages vs my friends 26" Nevegals. It will be interesting to compare the two in 29er format. Lovin the Rampages though..

While the treads are similar, I believe the compounds are quite a bit different. I'll be excited to give these a try. They'll be going on the bike tommorow.

As far as I know these are the one and only 29" Nevegals. I think Kenda is just trying to be completely honest in their sizing.

For what it's worth.....the pair that I have here are labeled 2.2 but are seemingly just as large as the Rampage.

The new Kenda Karma 2.2 is fairly voluminous as well.

Well....I'm sure that the Nevegal currently sitting in my office......mounted up on a delgado disc is just about the same size as the Rampage sitting next to it on a delgado disc....and it's labeled as a 2.2"

Also...the only Nev in the Kenda catalog is listed as a 2.2

Major props to Panaracer, Specialized and Kenda for recognizing the fact that there are many of us that are not weight weenies. We just want big tough mountainbike tires.

If you would have asked me a year ago about tires like this, I would have guessed that we would never see them.

All we need now is a direct riding / performance comparison between the Nevegal and the Rampage.

    Anyone up for that?

Well, I have a Rampage mounted on the fronts of my bikes and I have two Specialized on the way. What the hell, I guess I can order a nevegal to do a nice 2.2-2.35" test. Shiggy really should be doing this though.....

    just got mine!

I just mounted one up at the shop on a Salsa DD. It measures 2.3 at the knobs and 2.1 on the casing. Our shipping scale says 1.7 lbs = 770g Looks nice! Now if only my RIP9 will show up...

Just got my Nevegals in. I'm impressed. They looked good at Interbike, but to really get to play with them is awesome. I can't wait to get out and rip some corners with them. Withside knobs this big, and with the softer compound, it should work something like velcro.

Alright. Two hours and I've already had a failure. Perfectly seated tire, 40 psi, ona delgado disc rim. Total blow out. The bead is broken at two places. Ah... that lovely ringing in my ears. Good thing I ordered 12 I guess.

No Stan's, good old QBP tubes. It is entirely possible that I did something wrong. Could just be a fluke. Never the less, I can't wait to go ride these tonight.

    benwitt11 did it right.

I was standing there when he mounted them today. He was very careful, in fact, we even talked about this very thing......strange!

That sucks, Ben. I agree that these tires are really a great looking option for those looking for a knobular, sticky durometer tread that is high volume. Quite a burly looking tread. Too bad about the blowout! Let's hope it was a very rare failure and not indicative of a bad batch!

I should say that the tire blew in the shop and not on a ride, (thankfully.) I am assuming that I either had too much pressure in the tire or that there was a slight flaw in that one. Four other mounted tires have been fine thus far. I am planning a night ride for tonight, I'll post some reviews after that. Definately looks like a fun tire though.

I'm loving this tire so far. I've gotten about 2 hours of riding in on a mostly urban mix of terrain, (ie concrete, asphalt, college campus', stairs, etc.) These things hook up unbelievably well. They are very solid on grassy or loose corners, and yet the knobs don't feel like they roll under you on paved corners. It's just a whole lot of sticking to everything. I'll post a more in depth ride report tommorow. At 3 beers into the night these things are about the most fun tires I've ridden in a while.

    Back to stair riding!

    Cheers,
    Ben
