Just got her done. Been gather parts for 4 months. King hubs and headset, XO/XTR driveline, Arch Rims, DT Spokes, Ergons blah blah blah. Got a ride in around the neighborhood and I can say I like it. My 1st 29er coming off a Scalpel. I'm itching to get to the trails Needless to say I LIKE IT ALOT.
Still need to trim brake hoses, assuming I don't find some Elixers at the Swap this weekend. As well as get some shims for the calipers. Also I'm assuming the more miles you get on kings the louder they get? Its kinda quiet, engagement is amazing however.
No idea on weight. Its not heavy. I plan on getting it weighted at the LBS when I ride out that way. I will update you on the tires. There defintally soft so they should do fairly well.
Hi!
I'm waiting for my 1rst 29er now and, as you my actual bike is a (old) scalpel. I would like you to speak about your new sensations compare with your scalpel, thanks
Great bike man! I'm not sure what color my Air 9 Carbon is going to be, I had the guys at the LBS flip a coin and not tell me what they ordered. Tang would be Sweet! I'll live with white though if I have to.
Matt? Yea I need to get down to the Bump one of these years. Its a haul for me now. 14 hour drive for an XC race.....? Make it a 50 or a Hundie and I may do it.
The option i am using and you might want to to if money is an issue.
Formula RX with Avid 140 with alloy carrier rotor in the rear and 185 mm with alloy carrier in the front. The weight of the RX with steal 160 rotor is 351g. This is derived from weighing the front and rear Formula RX, each having different hose length the 351g is an average. The Avid alloy carrier rotors 140mm rear 185mm front average out to be 351 as well. This is still lighter than the Avid elixers, with the better modulation and power that comes with any formula brake. Plus a ton cheaper than R1s. This is my two bits.
