Here is a simple test to see which bike is faster.

Take the two bikes in question and lay them down a fair distance apart. Point them toward a distant finish line and make sure they understand what they need to do. Stand back and in a clear, strong voice, yell "GO!"

See which one crosses the line first.

There is a moral to this story.

For sure, this question depends on a TON of variables. Most important to you if you're shopping is probably trail type and condition, but even such, a HT is gonna be faster on some trails where a Full Squish will be faster on others. HT = Good climbing, good for trails that aren't particularly bumpy and technical, good if you like to stand. Full Suss = Not as efficient uphill, usually bomb downhill better and handle tech terrain better.

A 28 Lb FS will probably be a lot more expensive than a 29lb HT.

Are you riding them or throwing them off a cliff?
I only ride bikes to fill the time when I'm not skiing.

assuming you have both pick the one you like the most and sell the other one and use the $$$$ for upgrades... then the one you have left is faster than both were

    or better

use the $$$$ to invest in meth, then a month later when you have no more $$$$ sell the other one for more meth, then it doesent matter much does it?
What mountain bike forum do pirates use? .....

The hardtail is always faster. Why? Full suspension is for pansies and old dudes. Pansies and old dudes are not fast. Therefore full suspension is not fast.

But seriously. Some guys/gals are faster on a hardtail...others are faster on full suspension. The smart rider picks what will best for him/her.
