looked like a fun track too. Well, except for the uphill bits.

There was no way I was staying up that late.
Was it a close race (like the women's)?

    Some pics

Hi, My first post here. Thought it appropriate to add a couple of photos.

Sorry they're not the best, but give an idea of the elevation of the climb which is very grueling. I haven't tried that one yet!

There was only 3 seconds between 1st and 2nd then a minute to 3rd.

Yeah, it came right down to the wire. Nino Schurter gapped Julien Absalon in the last 600m for the win. Florian Vogel squeeked out third just in front of Jose Antonio Hermida Ramos about 40 sec. off the lead two. Very exciting race. It was nice not to see Absalon run away with it!

yeah, it dwindled down to a pack of four by i think the second to last lap. absalon gapped, schurter bridged and it was exciting racing almost all the way to the line. after the feed zone on the last lap it was pretty clear that schurter had the stronger legs yesterday.

It was one hell of a good race. Good to see Tod have a good ride. I am sure until yesterday he wasn't happy with his season.

It is interesting that he chose the 29er for this race. After riding it a bit early season he had switched just about exclusively to his 26inch dually for XC races. I wonder if he brought the 29er because of the steep drops?

you can watch the whole race on cyclingdirt.com (from freecaster) It's a great site BTW, thanks Colt

It's better than the live feed (doesn't freeze up every few minutes)

Amazing that the big wheels dealt with all those narrow radius corners so well.
