    Vassago Black Friday Sale.

This seems like a smoking deal $1.00 shipping.

Nice, I figured they'd be doing something again this year. I picked up a Fisticuff last year on Black Friday.

Typical Vassago. Announce a big sale, and have their web server take a dump. I love their bikes, but I am amazed that they are able to stay in business with the way the company is run.

Vassago Frames might be "effin cool" if they were offered in an XL or 22".

    Everybody else does.

Really like the Jabber but a 20" @ 6'5" would be a little too BMX for me.

What timing. I was debating on this frame for several weeks and just recently had abandoned it in favor of the slightly cheaper Inbred 29er.

    I just bought a Jabberwocky

    Thanks for posting this thread!

Edit - anyone know where they ship their bikes from?

Looks like there site it is back up. I was sitting on the fence between a Jabbery and Bander. The fact that they did not have any 18" Banders made it easy to make up my mind. Jabbery on the way.

Bummer, no 18" Banders! Would have been great to pick up a frame at this price, will have to pick one up elsewhere, I need a winter project build. For all those who are picking up the Jabbers, all I can say is, I love mine. Built it this summer, and have ridden the living hell out of it!

--Yeah this sucks!! I went on early today to get an 18 but NONE whatsoever. Just like Black Friday--have the Greatest Sale but only 2 items in the store with 5,000 people lining up to get one....

    Black Friday Sale

Just pulled the trigger. Thanks for posting!

BTW, are the frames chased and faced and have the tubes been rust proofed? For $330 shipped, I don't much care, but I can't seem to find anything on the website about frame finishing.

I did it--got one! Went to bed with the computer planning to watch a little netflix. Lady went to brush her teeth, so I decided to check out the 29er forum for a bit. It was 11:45pm. By the time she got back, I had a new green frame! Nice....!

I had been debating getting one for a few weeks now. I recently made up my mind to purchase a Singular Swift--that is, until I saw the sale just before midnight. I went with a 16" because the ETT was just a few mm off from that of my On One Scandal.

Got my Fisti last Black Friday. Its been a good year.

Initial test ride. Tringle speed (dingle with a tomicog on the other side) and a V-brake on disc only A-317 rims
70 miles (and a lot of vert) from home - in January

Fisti gets new wheels and gears

Cross tire + Hartman Rocks = 3 pinch flat day.....

    Study sheet for Calculus

Fisti goes back to school.... for Mechanical Engineering. Makes a better commuter than trail bike.
Probably got over 1000 miles on it this year, including lots of winter riding, hill climbs (Slumgullion Pass in winter, on SS). Great on road or dirt road, or snowy dirt road, not so good on real trails - that's where the Jabber is WAY more fun.

I expect to have a frame by Fri no later then Mon. It shows as flat rate so I'm guess it's either USPS or a deal with FedEx.

Does anyone from Vassago frequent the forum? I still haven't heard a response from the email I sent them on Monday. Is this typical of their customer service?

Vassago customer service is great. I ordered a black friday fisticuff last year. The huge volume of orders created a back log for shipping everything out. They were just 50 times busier that week than usual. I waited 7 or 8 days for my frame to ship, as I had ordered at 11:30 pm and was near the bottom of the list.

I wish I had known the alternative headtube badge was an option.

No shipping info for me either and no response back from the two emails I sent over the course of the week. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of communication.

Yeah, I got a bunch of extra little goodies...pint glass, decal, and badge. The head badge is a costly option though, at $75 - on the other hand, the pint glass was very reasonably priced.

I think the lack of communication is to be expected - that's why I haven't tried contacting. I'm sure they will come through ASAP.

I finally heard back from Vassago. They said:

Our shipping department is still working overtime to process the hundreds of orders from [the sale] in the order received. You will receive a FedEx tracking number prior to the frame shipping.

Yeah I did not get it today but I was hoping like a sob. I have everything cleaned and ready for it.

Got my Bandersnatch shipping notification today with tracking number, however, the email does not state what shipper, Doh! I'm assuming FedEx. No information yet on FedEx or UPS site. Ordered Black Friday around 12:10 am EST. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas to hurry up and get here.

When did you get your order in? I put mine in Friday morning around 10am EST....trying to get an idea of where they are in this process. Yes, the anticipation is killing me.

Ordered a set of those new on sale from Speedgoat last week for $52 each to upgrade my old RM Blizzard. And since I'll be moving the V-brakes over to my old winter beater, I found a set of Avid SD-5 levers on eBay for $20 to use on that.

Anybody looking for a Jabber that missed out on the sale? I saw this on my local craigslist today. Looks like a hell of a deal. Not mine nor do I know the seller.

Looks like a heck of a deal to me! If I didn't already have a Jabber I'd be willing to check it out. Anyone have a Bander deal like this? Looking for a Bander to set-up 1X9, for next years racing season.

Everything but the frame (cassette I am getting from my roommate).

Praying the RK will fit, feeling it wont but have a backup plan in case it does not. They're 23mm rims so I am being optimistic. Pulled the bashring off the Stylo 1.1 and put a XT 42t there.

A lot of the stuff is Nashbar brand. I can confirm the brake cables from them are just Jagwires (says it on housing), the rear mtn der is not bad either and it's light then a SLX. I also bought their bar wrap which has been getting good reviews.

I hope to have it this week. I might try to do a build log never done that before.

Mine is now showing up on the FedEx site. I figured that they ended up packaging for shipment Sat, FedEx picked up Monday late afternoon and that it took some time for it to finally show up in their tracking system. I would bet yours is now there too.

Shipped the 6th, delivery set for the 8th.

I emailed them yesterday and recieved this response.

Hello, thank you for your email and for choosing Vassago. Black Friday orders are still shipping and are about a week behind. Once your order is processes you will receive a shipping confirmation and a FedEx tracking number.

I will also forward your email to the warehouse to have some one in packing check where in line your order is.

    Have a great day!

Please do start a build thread. I am very curious as to whether those RK's will fit an if so, by how much.

    - I doubt that, I actually ordered mine Saturday morning , the web site was still up for a few hours. Right after I bought mine I went back to the web site and the frames were no longer available.

Should We Have a Contest to See Who gets Their Frame Last???

Shipped the 6th, delivery set for the 8th.
Update: No delivery. The FedEx site only says that they have the shipment/package information and that it has yet to be picked up. The 8th estimated delivery has disappeared.

So shipment info went to FedEx on Saturday and no pick up by Wednesday. Somethings does not seem right.

No it didn't and I found that odd. When I opened the box, I found the frame and the chain tensioners. I thought I recalled seeing something about a seatpost collar being included but then I figured I must have been mistaken. I couldn't get too upset about water bottle bolts missing but it would have been nice to get all the intended accessories.

When I went back to their site I looked on the Jabberwocky page and they state:

    JabberWocky frames include:

    * JabberNutz tensioners
    * Optionl [sic] cable guides
    * Water bottle bolts
I guess you also saw something on the site about the seatpost collar?

O.K., am I the only one who hasn't even recieved a tracking number yet? I tried calling the last two days and I get no answer. No response from my initial email tuesday where they were going to check with shipping and let me know the status of my order. I can't ride at the moment or I would be getting a little peeved.

No. I have not received anything either. I sent them an email a couple days ago and I left them a voicemail today with my order# asking for a status update. I would really like this have this before Christmas as I figured I would.

I was planning on showing my roommate how to build a bike, and showing him I can trust him to build mine (is this like a bro date?).

How's this for late. They've had my tradeup frame since Nov. 1st and it took them till Nov. 30th to "process" the tradeup credit. I paid immediately and still haven't heard anything. This is in spite of at least 10+ phone calls and emails. I would have been far better off ebaying my Bandersnatch frame then buying the Black Friday sale.

I really like their frames, but their service to new and existing customers can't even be called "service." That being said, you guys paying $329 and me paying $249 are getting a heck of deal, so I guess there's not much to complain - we're getting what we paid for.

    Cheap frames, cheap service.

    .
I ordered a JabberWocky at 10:06pm on Black Friday night. They've charged my card, but no tracking info yet. I sent an e-mail, but no response yet. I was kinda worried and peeved each day I get home, and no treasure by the front door, but seeing everyone's experience has been similar to mine, I don't feel too bad.

Nope I was thinking about the head badge, but it glues on and doesn't bolt on so I skipped on it (afraid I would loose it on the trail)

Just got a call from my mother in law. Vassago replied to her email that they are running about 2 weeks behind. She was worried I was going to be upset the frame might not be here by Christmas. I told her I was fine with that. I'm not 10 years old and I'll have a new bike after the first of the year. I do understand everyone's impatience though!

It's not that I'm impatience, I don't mind if they are running late. I would like to hear they are running late from Vassago not a thread. I just would like a little customer service. A simple returned call or email stating they are late would be nice.
it makes me wonder what would happen if I have a warranty issue?

Completely understand that. My mother-in-law is extremely persistent. There's no way they weren't going to answer her! And I'm not downing anyone for the frustration. I'm just passing on what I heard from her. OTOH, I now have everything I need for the build except a seat collar and chain! The day I get it will be one day earlier than I ride it!

It's really something with a lot of small bike companies. These cool little companies like Vassago aren't like Trek people....there isn't a huge call center open 24/7 to take your calls.

Heck reality is I bet there are 3 guys doing it all over there. And when I mean it all I mean trouble shoot website, take out the trash, box up frames to get ready for the UPS man (sometimes all 3 are on that duty), answer emails, process orders, talk to dealers, and still deal with the bank, taxes, processing paychecks, balancing the books, and talking to media to keep their name out there.

I've been there when I worked for LEW Composites. Heck with my own side project (driverightpassleft.com-not up yet will be by Friday-I'm doing it all) I've been there. You go from no orders, plan your life accordingly for the 2-3 that come in, and then one day you wake up to 100+.

I know it's tough to stomach in a day and age where we get overly babied by the big names, but know companies like Vassago aren't doing it because they want to screw ya...they are just busy trying to make it as a little guy in a big guy world. Patience.

I don't care how "cool" a company is. Good business (big or small) is not about calling someone "dude" or saying "homie" on your website.

My last bike was produced by Transition, another (formerly?) small company. When I used to email Transition, they would respond no later than 48 hours later. This delay was perfectly acceptable to me because I understood they were a small company. I waited over a week before getting an email back from Vassago. And that was my second email. My first inquiry did not get a response.

And when I called Transition, the phone would be answered quickly and I'd likely be talking to one of the company owners or a pro rider. Now that makes a company cool and is one of the things that made Transition the company they are now.

There are simply no excuses for crappy customer service. In this day and age where consumer options are plenty, you can provide something others can't by offering responsiveness to your customer's questions.

If nothing else, Vassago should have anticipated this massive rush of orders and hired a temp to reply to simple "where's my order" emails.

I hope they learned their lesson. I would do business with them again because I like their product, but it does make me very worrisome if a warranty issue comes up.

I'm in agreement here. I was finally notified today that my frame shipped. My frame was processed through their warranty dept., which had my prior frame since Nov. 1st.

I am really conflicted about this because while I do like their products, I've been disappointed with their level of service.

To anyone concerned about there Vassago purchase and/or future warranty/CS issues. If you have ordered a 20" Jabber or 57cm Fisti and would rather have your money back, let me know. I will pay you the $330 and you can have it sent to me instead. I missed my opportunity and my Bander would love a sibling!

Hi Travis, sorry for the delay. Yes, the warehouse goons are running a few weeks behind getting those Black Friday orders out. I will forward your email to the sales dept and find where in the que you are. Once the frame ships, you will receive a receipt and a FedEx tracking number. Have a great day!

This is what I got today, I sent this query over a week ago.

I was hoping to have the frame by Christmas.

at least you guys can get a response from them. I have called and sent emails and all I got was one email saying they would check with the warehouse and get back to me. That was last tuesday, now they won't answer the phone or answer my emails. I'm starting to get a little discouraged with the whole thing. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to getting this frame.

I will take the blame. I'm the one that started this thread, but have not got a tracking number either. Billed to my card on 11/27. Not worried at that blow out price. Cant wait to get it.

Guess, I was one of the lucky ones. I received a response to an email inquire about their ordering system being down and then an unsolicited email stating that they see that I was eventually able to place and order. They went on to state that they appreciate me being so patient when there system went down. Shortly thereafter I received a shipping notice. My Jabber arrived on Saturday and I cannot wait to build it.

I got my FedEx number on Dec 4th with an estimated 6th delivery. FedEx sys still shows that it has not been picked up yet. Emailed Vassago on Wednesday Dec 8th with no response.

I'm trying to be as patient as possible.

Nope...can't take all the blame. I found out about the sale on my local MTB board. All the parts are waiting for a frame...

I called for the third time today and got their voicemail for the third time. I have left a message all 3 times and have yet to hear back from them. I think I am going to give them til friday (3 weeks) and if I still don't have a response, I'm going to file a paypal complaint. You would think they could at least post something on their blog or SOMETHING!

Not trying to lay the bad mouth on them, but...

When I received my Fisticuff frameset last year it was damaged (the top of the seat tube was D shaped, it didn't have a clamp or a plug and had been whacked during shipping sometime). I phoned and e-mailed Vassago about it and never did get any kind of response. We wound up fixing it in the shop (gotta love steel frames!) but I was a little dismayed at the (lack of) customer service from the get-go.

Our annual Black Friday sale has always been an exponentially busy sale day, but this year was a new level. Our web server was pushed to its traffic limit and many customers had to try multiple times just to get their order through in time.

For all of you who got through in the wee hours, we are processing your orders as fast as possible. We thank you for you business and your business and your patience!
This is the last of it I wish they would give an update. I am getting annoyed by all of this and am shocked there has not been much about this.

And to whom said they're not like Trek. That's why I bought from them in the first place....

I've helped out at plenty of small business' before and as stated by another member worked into the wee hours getting things done. It sucks and most of it was for free (on my part) but it had to get done. I would also imagine the actual frame boxing up isn't too time consuming since bike boxes are pre-made and I would hope some prep went into this. I myself would have at least pre boxed a good chunk of frames before the sale. They said last year was a big success I would hope some insight would have came from that.

Did you guys last year deal with the same problem?

So who here ordered during the black friday sale and has yet to recieve anything from them? I am getting ready to file a paypal claim and BBB complaint against them. I don't mind being patient but 3 weeks and they won't answer the phone, return calls or emails. I personally don't want a frame from a company that treats their customers like this.

I received my frame - you can find my post previously in this thread to see when it arrived.

I sent two emails - the second was replied to with a "sorry we're running late" message.

I tried calling but nobody ever picked up the phone.

I also sent Vassago a link to this thread.

I hope the folks at Vassago are listening to everyone here.
I'm sold on their product! I built up a SS Jabber earlier this year (the best mountain bike I've ever owned), and want to build up a 1X9 Bander for the upcoming race season, but I am concerned as everyone else is about the customer support... I'm willing to give them a chance, but there is a limit... I've been looking at Niners, but want to stick with Vassago if at all possible!

I was at the Hub today putting the crown/race on my ODIS fork and spied someone here's sweet Brimstone Bander on the stand being built up. That is one sick color - looks better live than even I would have thought.

*update on mine* shows sched delivery on next Tuesday. My transaction has been in process since Nov. 1, so you all count yourselves lucky if you're getting yours in under 30 days!

Yep - that is one sweet build! They just pressed the CK headset and were getting ready to put on the Fox Fork. Glad to see another Vassago in the area. I only know of yours, mine and Nachomc (I think that's his name).

Clamps aren't included...iirc. So, you did add the pint glass to your cart? I added the pint glass too, so I hope my frame shows up with one(whenever that may be). I have still received absolutely nothing - not even a tracking number.

If seat post clamps arn't included then what is this?

    "Vassago Seat Clamp

Clean and simple. This is the standard 30mm seatclamp included with all steel Vassago frames. Pretty much the same as everyone else, but this one says Vassago on it, so it's cooler."

Just because we buy frames on discount dosn't mean we should get ripped of on the clamps, water bottle bolts and tensioners. I don't mind waiting for the frame but I do mind not getting what they promise to deliever on their website.

I didn't get a seat clamp with my Fisticuff last year. If it had come with one, my frame likely wouldn'tve arrived damaged.

Still no tracking or reply here.
Going to contact Paypal Monday and cancel.
This complete lack of customer service is B.S. at any sale price.
They should limit the number of sale frames to a number that they can handle in a 2 week time frame. Any longer is unacceptable.
I think I will put this towards a Blackbuck when available.

I just sent them an email after not receiving a email about were I am in the que (which they said they would email me back about), that I will call my CC company if I do not receive a tracking number for my frame. I also stated how some members are displeased with this on mtbr.com

I feel this is the only way to get a response. Phone calls seem to serve no use, I'm surprised the phone isn't off the hook.

After following this thread. I must say, I am very disappointed in Vassago. I thought two weeks to receive a replacement hanger was a long time. I've really enjoyed my Bander and was considering the trade up program. When the time comes. I think I'll just sell the frame and go with another company. Poor service is unacceptable. Especially in a not so good economy.

Good luck to those waiting. It's a really fun frame to ride.

The sad part is I was really looking forward to this frame and had been wanting a Jabber for some time. After this debacle, it kinda puts a bad vibe on the whole thing. Mine will supposedly be here on tuesday, we'll see if the frame can make up for the *****ty customer service.

I haven't had much time to work on a new bike, so I've tried to be patient and keep my mouth shut. But now I'm starting to get upset! I have yet to receive a shipping notification!!

If I hadn't have gotten my frame by now I'd be letting them (and others) know on their Facebook page.

I'm stoked that I got my frame but it sucks that so many others are getting the shaft. It makes me less excited to have mine. And down the road, when it's time to get a new frame, I'll be skipping their "trade up" program and going with another company who actually gives a crap about their customers.

Did you get your seat post clamps, water bottle bolts and chain tensioners? - this is the only thing scaring me.

Well after my threat of calling my CC company to reverse the charges I got my tracking number today

This seems to be the only way to get something done with them.

My money was refunded by my CC company over the weekend - I'll be moving on.

I don't really mind the wait...I have waited much longer periods of time before. It's the inability to communicate with them that is bothersome. I just don't really want anything to do with their brand at this point.

    Good luck to everyone waiting!

Got my frame today and it had the tensioner screws and bottle cage bolts. The frame is supposed to be prepped but the BB threads feel pretty rough so I am going to have mine chased to be safe. The frame looks great, but the lack of customer service really soured me on the company. Now I just have to get it built and ready to go ride with seenvic and his new Jabber @ FATS.

Oh, for crying out loud... you people buy a new frame for what, about $300, and you complain because it's not perfect, the BB threads weren't chased, you didn't get a shipping notification, there were no waterbottle cage bolts, whatever...

Is this a troll or did you not read this thread at all?

We did not buy into purchasing a "slightly imperfect frame" or a "frame missing some crap". Some people did not get everything stated to be included in the purchase, and some people did not receive anything at all.

And overall, the grumbling is not about missing watterbottle cage bolts or chased frames, which, I agree, isn't a big deal. Rather, the complaints stem from the completely awful customer service provided by Vassago. A sale price on an item does not justify ignoring your customers.

Yeah, I've just gotten around to checking my frame over, and the water bottle bosses on the seat tube are not in the center. They're off, significantly. Wouldn't matter if I didn't use both cages, but I do.

Got in touch via Paypal and they responded that I should send it back, now who covers the shipping charges back. Haven't gotten a reply yet on that issue.

At a minimum a blast email out the the database of folks that ordered letting them know what's happening, orders are being processed, etc.

As for the earlier comments, yeah... I was sort of just messing with folks.

In your situation, I have a suggestion. I have a CF road frame where the bottle cage mounting holes aren't centered on the downtube, but it's not really noticeable unless someone points it out. However, I like stuff like that to be right, not almost right. Can't use CF cages, but you can take a quality cage, preferably a steel cage like a Chris King, and 'cold set' (aka: bend) it to center the bottle, as long as the bolts aren't waaay around on the side of the tube. Not the optimal solution, but a solution nonetheless, and easier/cheaper than sending the frame back and hoping to get a replacement before next year's Black Friday sale.

Exactly my issue. While I got a sale price, I never signed up for a "second quality" frame.

Just want the cash back at this point, and not to ride a vassago, unfortunately. Was really looking forward to it as a friend that rides one loves it.

I'd say the bolts are off 10 degrees or so. I could "rig" something. I don't want it that bad though.

At a minimum it's covered under materials and workmanship in the warranty, but that's no good if voicemails are never returned and neither are emails.

And what if I have a warranty issue down the road...too bad I guess.

All this, and I'm not the person that typicall rants on the interwebs.

    Filed dispute with paypal Sat.
    Escalated to a claim yesterday.
    And still no response.... Nothing
    What a bunch-o-crap.
And to think most of people's gripes would have been solved by simple communication. Quite sad really.

The BBB will have a report on them soon. I got my frame yesterday and it looks good. They shipped mine out the day after I filed my paypal and BBB complaint. It is amazing how this could have been avoided with just a *tiny* bit of customer service.

    Wow... BBB? Really?

I bought mine secondhand and got great service from Vassago anyway...

Amazing how different two peoples experiences can be with the same company.

I didn't read this whole thread but good luck getting whatever you should get fellas.

Too many frames, not enough staff to get them out the door. They definitely got a greater response than they anticipated.

I have always assumed, incorrectly I guess, that these manufacturers would have the frames boxed and ready to go. When an order comes in they pull the appropriate size/color, slap on a label and out the door with it. They must not put up their stock that way.

really sorry to hear this about Vassago.... I have been riding a Jabber for over two years now and I have had good response with them in the past. I really like my Jabber. All I can think is they were overwhelmed with orders and didn't handle the order/inventory/shipping very well.
I have to agree that a little communication either email or snail mail would have cleared the air a bit. I also agree that a frame blow out sale should not include blemished frames. I hope you all get your frames and and build them up cause the ride on steel 29er is a ton of fun!
Let's see a few complete builds in the next few weeks and I bet everyone will start to forget about this fiasco from Vassago.

Got mine about an hour ago - can't finish the build since my LBS is closed so I couldn't get the headset pressed.

Very happy with the quality of the frame...in fact, I was very pleasantly surprised. I had an '09 Bandersnatch, and this '10 Jabber had significantly better paint and welds. Will be finished up tomorrow and post on that Vassago build thread.

This is how my x-mas is going....

Well...Here's the new Bander. For now it has a bunch of take of parts from a 09 GF X-Calibur. After the holiday season I should be able to get the rims/hubs ordered and a few other things. A few items to mention:

    16" Bander
    Fox Front Shock
    Chris King headset
Mix of Bontrager takeoffs (wheels, seat post, stem,)

Not super fancy but will work for me.

Let me/us know how that G2 fork works on the Vassago geometry.
