    Sycip

My brother used to work at a bike shop in the late 90's and into the 00's. The guys there would always talk about Sycip, they would get them in the shop every so often (from multiple owners) and it seemed as if they were pretty popular among many people.
I've been here on MTBR for a while now, and I am pretty sure I have yet to see someone with a "look at my new Sycip" thread.

Is there a reason for this or is it b/c they are old school and not the newest and latest?

Sure their website is pretty simple and I will admit looking pretty aged, but most smaller companies are.

A curious mind would like to know

There's a couple of threads like that in the Custom Manufacturers forum. I'm not sure as to why they are not more popular though.

... and if we just ... Look at my wife's Sycip

The metallic Barney colored one back there with the small wheels (I attached a pic, why doesn't it show in the preview?).

Steel front triangle with Ventana suspension. It's a very small frame (13"-14"), if I remember correctly the frame was around 5.5lbs.

It must ride really well because I never hear any criticism...

It's a very nice bike, the best paint I've ever seen.

    Nice head badge too.

You don't really see them very often. When people go steel they seem to go IF. I have both an IF and a Sycip and I be hard pressed to choose one over the other. Except the fact that a Sycip frame is about five bills less

well at least there are a few out there. they aren't as eye catching as the retrotechs and wolfhounds but they still look incredibly clean and balanced.

ill have to check into more of them, especially if they are a bit cheaper. not that price is a major issue if you are going custom, if ya catch my drift.

the penny's on the seat stays are a nice touch as well.
