    Superfly and Superfly 100 weight

Can someone please let me know the weight of a superfly and of the superfly 100?
It would help if this would be for size 17.5.

    Thanks,

I believe a Large (19) superfly elite is 22.6lbs out of the box. Not sure about the 100.

superfly elite 2011 frame in 17.5 is 1395g but there is at least 100-130g in these rubber shields in chainstay and main tube. fork (RLC) is 1750 with uncut steerer to this frame. Headset is 55g.

So you think we could get rid of them to save weight? The addition of the carbon armor underneath is quite important taking in consideration the several frame issues of previous years(mostly for superfly 100)

No, it's not the 100. I went into the shop just wanting to size up a 29er, (since this is my first 29er and only being 5'3" I didn't know if they would work for me) and the dealer said if I wanted a 15.5 he had only one left in the country! So needless to say I ordered it and here it is. Haven't been able to ride it besides a little in the shop, but I love it so far. You will probably need to switch the stem to neg, I felt like I was riding a grandma's bike before my dealer switched it for me. Hope you get one, the way my dealer was talking it sounds like it will be pretty hard to get your hands on one, expecially a 15.5. Good Luck!

Sorry, no pics, every time I tried it said failed to up load...

It's everybody's choice. If you ride hard and treat your bike like a bi..ch than i would leave it.
There is a paint under so it will look normal. Most carbon bikes does not have it...

It sure makes your carbon frame safer, but it cost you weight. your choice. Just bare in mind that if you remove it and broke your frame you can't count on warranty.

    2011 Medium Superfly Elite

I have the 2011 Superfly Elite (medium). I am running Stans Race 29er wheels, renegade tires, Ritchey bars and post, full XX components, ESI grips, Bontrager carbon 4 seat, Eggbeater 11's and come in at 21.9 pounds. You would be really paying alot of money to try and get any lighter......

Mine is going to be size L. Im going to have 1x10 gearing with XX. Today I built my wheelset just under 1500g(DT240s/DTaerolite/crest). But that under 20lbs sounds too hopeful after all...

I agree. On paper, my project should become easily under 9,5kg. There must be many miscalculations and/or forgotten parts...

Yes if you go by the advertised weights you would think so. When you actually get the part on the scale its a whole different story. Brake weights for example dont include all the hardware like the mounting bolts. The claimed seat weight is for the narrowest seat made for that model. Plus you add up housing, bottle cage, Garmin mount and it adds up. The one weight that was dead on was the Stan's Race 29 Wheelset. Tried to keep the rotating mass as light as possible and you really feel the difference spinning up.... For what its worth, I was in the Specialized shop and weighed a stock Epic S Works 29er in Large and it was over 22 pounds....

Ill save few hundred grams with my 1*10 setup. My project will be ready maybe in february. Very eager to see what real weight is going to be! That stans race wheel set is really light, Id like to hear how they feel?

i am looking for the crest rims. the race rims are too light for my weight.
currently riding the flows, and very happy with them although they are somewhat heavy.

The Stans Race 29er's have no noticeable flex and seem just as stiff as my Mavic crossmax wheels. I do hear some tinging from the spokes on hard acceleration but that's about it. I weight 160 and run about 27 pounds front and back. They seal very well with the Renegade tires and no problems with hubs....

Thanks for the info. I was looking for a realistic weight on a complete 17.5 elite. That weight works for me.

No worries. Pleanty of room to lighten it up. Our race bikes come in around 19 lbs depending on tires and size of course. 2011 race bikes will be a bit lighter with some new components coming down the line

I just took delivery of my 17.5" Superfly 100 today (not the Elite, but the base X9 version) and out of the box it was 26.5 pounds. I took it home, put my race wheels (King/Supercomp/Stan's Crest with Maxxis Aspens) on it, my XX 26/39 cranks, Easton EC70 post and WTB Rocket saddle. Also 11/32 XT cassette.

It now weighs 24.1 lbs and I will make a few other additions to get it into the 23s.

My 2011 SUPERFLY-ELITE frame(17.5) with absolutely zero parts on it weighted in at 2.97 lbs using a digital shop scale.....whereas my 2009 Ferrous Frame without the EBB inserted weighted in at : 5.39 lbs.

I'm in the process of custom building the SUPERFLY ELITE frame up into a real good riding machine.

did you used advertised weights or you put it on a scale?
have same white rims and white spokes and they are heavy! rims are 411 and 114g!!compared to advertised 370g....
and spokes lanced on 3X = 293 and 294mm are around 208g per wheel because they are white... so it's hard to believe that you have 1500g wheelset. mine built on hope pro 2 hubs is 1750g:/ and hopes are 313 and 189g so it's just around 90g more than 240s

Awesome! I'm having almost identical wheels laced up right now, albeit with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. My wheelbuilder recommended not using Aerolites, even though I'm only 150-160lbs, and suggested CX-Rays instead. Should be rolling on them in a day or two.

Here is my Trek Superfly frame + some parts attached. Total weight 10,1 kg and 22,2lbs in that setup you can see in the picture. Should have weighted it with Schwalbe FF:s and without pedals...

Before June Im going to make it tubeless and run a few races with those FF:s.

Have to say I REALLY wait tomorrow morning to have first ride.
