    Specialized Rockhopper Pro 1X 2019

    Has anyone bought one?
Have you taken it on a trail, how does it feel? are the forks/1x good?

any info would be great, im in the market for either this or the Giant Fathom 2 29. but im leaning a bit towards the Pro as it has rockshox fork.

heres a link to the pro..

I don’t have one, but if it matters to you maybe check out the chisel comp, they’re both at the 1600 price mark. Chisel is made out of a better alloy, and better tires.

Not a super helpful reply but hopefully it gives you something else to look at.

Unfortunately in my city, the Chisel comp 1x is 2200$ a lot more than the rockhopper pro 1x. so i dont think that would be an option for me.

Hmm, I have the epic hardtail, and it its really stiff through corners and climbs super fast. Some of my friends have the rockhopper and they really like it. However both the giant and the specialized are good bikes, but its ultimately up to you. Maybe try to demo one of the two (or both) to see how they ride. My LBS has a ton of them and they would definitely let me take it on a ride if I was interested in purchasing one.

I super wish i could take them for a ride, unfortunately the official Giant store doesnt let people demo them around the area. they always say go "______" here to try it. and its usually a 2hr drive away in the countryside somewhere during an event.. i work during the week full time so thats not a possibility for me.

as for the specialized, the retailer there has maybe 2 or 3 MTB (only highest end) and the rest are the road bikes. I wouldnt be able to demo anything because they wouldnt have it in stock and would need to order. and they would only order if i actually bought it.. same goes for the giant store, would only have it in stock if i ordered.

my only option is to see via youtube or what people say here, use a risk and then go to the shop and order it. I know this isnt the best way to go about it, but my city mostly has only "road/city" bikes or cruisers with baskets. not really a dedicated MTB scene around here.

Well, not sure what to say to that, the Rockhopper is meant to be an all around entry level bike with capable components. That would probably work out the best because its not a full on cross country hardtail, or a full on trail hardtail either, so you'd be able to figure out what you want in a bike.

I have the Giant Fathom 1 29er 2019 and Wow! It climbs like a champ. Rides like a well trained stallion and gets you over rough terrain like your ridding a chariot into battle! Such an amazing Hardtail! I picked up a FS Jekyll 3 and bring the Fathom along for friends who don't have MTBs - and they all say "I want to get this bike."

i have a new rockhopper x1, and its awesome, ive ridden it on the road a bit on way to work but on the way home I take the trails and waw its an awesme bike, however I am having to convert it to a 2x as the 1x doesn't have enough for me. great bike tho, and im in the uk, so was only £1050 for me

I got the 2019 RH Expert to get the 2X drive train, which suits my riding plans and area bettrr than a 1X. The Expert has the same frame and components as the Pro, just the front fork and drive train are different. The Expert has a SR Suntour XCR-Air fork instead of the RockShox Recon RL fork. But I am not going to be riding it hard, mostly on easy trails and the “rail to bike trails” around where I live.
    Cheers
