S-works epic hardtail - sizing support

    Hey guys,

as my canyon lux has gone I found my love to mountain biking again and want to buy a new specialized epic hardtail. I am not so sure which size to take and would be very thankful if you could support with your experience.

i am 1,80 m tall and my inside leg is 56 cm. I have found a very old sizing guide from specialized saying that I am between m and l frame.

i did a test drive and the M frame is a bit short - so would need a slightly longer stem. L felt good but from a gut feeling I am not a L frame guy with my size.
At pin Ike I have read that the frame is build to be used with shorter stem.

    what do you think?

thanks a lot for your help

I think you need to get properly fit and then make a decision. It's too hard to do over the Internet. Often you can tune up or down a bit in sizing with stem and seat post, but fit is so important I would suggest having a good shop take a close look at you on both sizes.

Personally I would get M and slightly longer stem. I am 1.93 and ride L Scott Scale. Also Specialized got higher standover hight than Scale, wich is a reason more to go for M size.

    Hey hey.
I got the m size - firstly with original stem to have a try. Feels very good so should be the right decision for me.

    Thanks for your help

According to Google 56 cm is 22 inches. You have some short legs. My inseam from my crotch to the floor is 31.5 inches and I ride a medium 2020 Specialized Epic Pro Hardtail. By the way, it's the best MTB I have ever owned.
