Geesh. I could go on and on. And on. I never, ever get tired of looking at or taking pics. Never.

But if I had to pick only one, it'd be this one. My best buddy, doing what he does best.

Oh, and thanks Mike. Might have not spent as much time on this forum this year if it weren't for the fantastic threads/shots posted up.

That right there is what it's all about for me - hitting the trails with your buds.

Best day of the year on the bike for me. 8-30-10. Just outside of Salida, Co. Amazing day.

The thing that always gets me about Co is the sky. Same trip...

I didn't have a great picture taking, or riding year. A conflagration of situations too unimportant to go into here. Anyways. A couple of my favorite shots from the year:

Kids on the trail. Ain't nothing better.
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4987195970/" title="GF7ride-11 by unclefuzzy_ss, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/4987195970_058da5f0dc_b.jpg" width="602" height="900" alt="GF7ride-11" /></a>

Opened eyes with bikes and bars:
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4987203902/" title="GF7ride-42 by unclefuzzy_ss, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/4987203902_dab9f058c7_b.jpg" width="900" height="602" alt="GF7ride-42" /></a>

    Beautiful trail:
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4987024714/" title="GF7-17 by unclefuzzy_ss, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/4987024714_e6f9fd8c41_b.jpg" width="602" height="900" alt="GF7-17" /></a>

My life doesn't revolve around bikes:
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4909044559/" title="skt-3 by unclefuzzy_ss, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/4909044559_fede6b77eb_b.jpg" width="602" height="900" alt="skt-3" /></a>

    24 hour race costume:
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4852970769/" title="w24-113 by unclefuzzy_ss, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4077/4852970769_47eab092c3_b.jpg" width="602" height="900" alt="w24-113" /></a>

While its not a great shot, I love it. Its my wife partaking in one of her laps at her first 24 hour race this past summer. And first race in at least 8 years. She loved the event!

There was a lot of change for me in 2010. I graduated from law school in northern KY, then took and passed the NC bar exam. That gave me the best feeling of accomplishment.
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/rckdaniel/5309878078/" title="IMG_1156 by rckdaniel, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.static.flickr.com/5128/5309878078_c8f4902082_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="IMG_1156" /></a>

After that, we moved to the best little mountain town, Brevard, NC.

This area has some of the best trails, some of which lead to the best waterfalls...
    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/rckdaniel/5275529684/" title="High Falls by rckdaniel, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.static.flickr.com/5045/5275529684_d3d2aa9697_z.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="High Falls" /></a>

    And the best views.

These two really capture the ride. The prep before you roll, and having your breath taken away by mother Earth...

But if I had to pick only one, it'd be this one. My best buddy, doing what he does best.

My daughter has ben riding with me for years now, but only this last year on the trail, she is digging it, and I'm now building up a nice 26er for her. Kids on the trail definitely rocks.

In celebration of AZ girls on bikes in 2010...

    It was a good year!

Photo credits go to many - these pics are from the calendar we put together every year to hang in our office cubes and bring us back to fun places.

    Snow riding in GA

Thanks to all for the great pics. This one really stood out, riding through the rhododendron tunnels in the late spring snow at Bull Mountain.

Nice pics Matt. I know a few of those spots well....looks like a flowered meadow nearing the intersection of Jones Creek & Pinkerton, then later the scree field after cresting Kennebec. I love that part of the country.

Here are a couple of highlights from my year.

Last winter my buddy Travis and I did what I think was the first tandem crew to race in a TX State Marathon event. We did 81 miles in a bit over 8hrs that included singletrack, and dirt country roads.

This next one was probably the best ride I did all year. Nine of us met in a sleepy little town East of Austin and road 60 mi of back county gravel roads. They were a mixture of sandy red-dirt, caliche, gravel, and hard pack. It was a sublime day with great friends and great weather.

Wish I had more ride pics, but since most riding for me is done at night, pics are a rarity. Did get up to Alaska in August, did the whole Fat Boat cruise thing, , but managed to see some exquisite terrain, and have a whole new outlook on life. A few ride pics too. HAppy New Year all

These happen to be from a trip earlier this week to the Perimeter Trail in Sewanee, TN. There was snow everywhere and it was a lot of fun to ride in! Happy New Year to everyone!

I bought my wife a camera and I learned to take better photos as she took interest in it. I rode with my wife and my son. And I took the time to look down at the soil and up at the sky.

    So, call it photo Monday...

    Better late than never.
This pretty much made my year. While I was waiting for my collar bone to mend, my daughter took up racing.
Big Valley MTB Festival 2010 at Camp Manatoc.
    The kids races were awesome!

About a month later the training wheels came off.
(and isn't that the coolest hoodie you ever saw - grandma came through on that one)

    -F

PS - I could make a really good calendar out of all the pix in these threads!

I'd say you learned to take better photos. They were great, thanks for sharing.

I am certainly humbled by some of the pictures- really good.
Here is a few in chronological order of my year in biking. Some with descriptions, others you will have to be clever on your own.
Roger: monastic training on what was the coldest day in winter. Roger emerged from the woods when no one else dared, replete with frozen beard.

Recon: with the winter and spring well spent with a few K's in the legs, we started the race season with the recon.

Pa-Looza: With little desire for the race I opted to take pictures rather than suffer in the mud.
G from NY: Racing sometimes involves tactics to keep your position at any cost.

    The killer in flight.

    Mud man.

Get it in: With the fear of losing the trail (lifes blood for the soul) we rode dirt with a vengeance to "get it in" as you never know what twists life brings. Here are a few from a series of rides in the spring.

    When I grow up.

    Eh.

Return to the scene of her fist roller:

Apex of the game: it is what DH legend Missy Giove called "the flow" and what we all aspire to. It is the balance of the subtle technique and brute strength that comes only with practice and sound vision of the trail. This day was hers.

Group rides then came to a halt at the start of summer: For awhile it was the skinny tire that kept me company. For those who don't know, the skinny tire is the zen to the hyper focus of the East Coast trail.

Personal goals: With little in the tank in terms of training I barely managed to finish the DH40. Even with Rogers keen advice not to drink beers with the hula girls I found myself deep in the pain cave. I found inspiration and motivation to will myself to finish from 2008 DH40 sport champion: Records are owned forever. I will going back to the DH40 this year- you should come out to it as well. It is a "must" race.
People asked me what the picture of Wonder Woman was doing on the back of my bag during the race- "just keeping me company"

TBR: What started as an idea a couple of years ago turned to reality. It is not often that you can come up with an idea and act on it. It is something I am proud of and I am looking forward to replicating again soon.

Leaves: The fall brought new hope for me as my partner in crime returned to the trails.
    Hey ladies!

Phil: to watch the evolution of personal developement is amazing. Uncle "Phree-Ride" has gotten good this past year.

Like any good cycle, it will start again soon and I am sure I will see Roger out in the woods on the coldest day of the year.

See you out on the trail.
