New Member, Finally getting back into MTB--Tips/advice appreciated-stache7_22086_a_portrait.jpgFinally after about 8-9 years I pulled the trigger on a 2018 Trek Stache 7 (picking it up Wednesday) in order to get back into biking. It's been a long time since I rode (rode in high school before I joined the Military) and i'm quite a bit heavier too. I am about 6'3 280lb but the weight will hopefully begin to decrease with some good cardio. I enjoy lifting but havent been able to do much cardio after getting screws put in my ankle..

But back to the original topic--Being that I probably wasn't very serious on a back bike then what are some things I should focus on/be prepared for now that i'm throwing a leg back over the saddle. This trek is my first actually "nice" bike. Hell i've never even rode a bike with disc brakes not counting dirtbikes and street bikes.

Any tips, tricks, fundamentals I should practice would be appreciated but obviously first things first....got to start turning some miles on the trail this coming week.

Yea I know for sure that everything would be easier after i dropped some weight. Lifting doesnt help getting lighter at all either so i'm really looking forward to thecardio session that a bike will provide. Sugar is the devil though, I hear ya on that one.
