The monkey is mine! Bwaa haa haa ha!!!

I picked up a new (used) Karate Monkey yesterday. I heard that the guy was parting it out but when I told him I wanted a complete bike he offered to sell me the whole thing. I paid $750 for it and since it's used I got twice the bike I hoped for and still came under budget. It's equipped as follows:

    XT derailurs, hubs and cassette
    XTR brake/shift levers
    Avid mechanical discs
    Mavic XM-719 rims
    FSA handlebar and carbon cranks
    Shimano pedals
    Thomson seat post and stem

He wanted to keep the headset so he put in a new Race Face headset before he sold it. The frame has like one scratch and a couple of scuff marks but looks real nice. The guy is a mechanic at a bike store. He added up all the parts in the computer and to build it new would cost about $2200.00.

I can't wait to ride it but I don't want to get salt all over it.

Either that guy needed the cash quick, or the bike has a very bad curse over it. man, what a deal!! Some on here will hate you for that, I'm sure, watch your back!

So, I guess the former owner after a few rides understood that 29" was a bad plan after all?

He said he was building another bike and was only allowed, by his girlfriend, to have one at a time.

    Talk about whipped.

Nice...use frame saver for the frame if you want to ride it. I've been riding my Monkey on salty roads here in Weesconseeeeen and I have no fear of the rust. The frame is powder coated on the outside, and Frame Saver'ed on the inside. But I do clean it with nice warm soapy water once a week to make it feel fresh.

That is a freakin' hot deal!

Just don't forget to spank the monkey

It looks similar but some of the components are different. I bought it from a local guy who works at a bike store. I don't know if he was advertising or anything so there might be pictures around somewhere for all I know.
