    Foto Friday 9-4

Met this retired guy at Potowatami in Michigan riding his orange Intense 29er. He was training for Xterra Maui.

    Plus 3 price levels of 29er. $1500, $3000, and $6000.

Looks to me like you can ride right over it - looks to have built up sections on either side of the log.

    Nice turtle.

Ahhhhh... I was thinking you approached from the camera's side... maybe could use that closest log for an assist if you have a good run at it(?).

Tried bike polo for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I'm really digging it. I just built my first couple of mallets last night:

actually that picture is taken from the opposite side of the logs from the turtle shot. Either way I think most people could clear it. It is a very common feature on the trails around here.

Totally different bike, major geometry changes from 07 to 09. It will take some time to get my cockpit dialed and the suspension tuned. Hopefully I will grow to love it as much as the old swamp green version.

    Pics from Brisbane

A few recent pics; some 29'er content, others not so much....

Haven't done a wheel-build in at least 25+ years, so lacing-up these big wheels felt rather new and satisfying. Luckily I had Jobst Brandt (or rather his book) ready to help me! .

Here's the obligatory 'thru the valve-hole' pic.

The eucalyptus blossoms are out in Brissie, so there's Rainbow Lorikeets everywhere.

Nothing 29'er related here; just some scrumptious salad vegies growing in my vegie-patch.

Here's a home-brew truing-stand that I cobbled-up using some recycled RHS tubing last night. Sorry about the rubbish picture-quality.

    Echo Bulge Bar
, it is a trials bar, 9 degree sweep, 29 inches wide, truly a bar for a 29er. (735 mm for the metric crowd.)

    Hee, hee, hee..... Um no.

If you know the climb from Telluride, it's great up to Tomboy mine, and a short ways after that the road gets very, very rocky - not with just baby heads, but more like buffalo heads - and then the pitch increases. It's a bear for sure. I'd find a few spots to spin, but most of the up was in the form of my bike on my shoulders.
