    Canfield Brothers Riot 29er FS

    Canfield Brothers Riot 29er

Ever since our first experience on the wagon-sized wheels, we always loved the 29er concept; It just screams speed and charges through everything! Uphill, downhill—these wheels are fast. The downside is that most 29ers just weren't as fun to ride. In 2011, we launched the Yelli Screamy, the first 29er with short chainstays. Playful and nimble, the Yelli changed people's perception of the handling characteristics of 29ers. Here we are in 2015 and the Canfield Brothers Riot pushes the bar the further than it’s ever been pushed in the 29er full suspension world, boasting the most aggressive 29er geometry to hit a pedal bike. Coupling 140 millimeters (5.5 inches) of patent pending Canfield Balance Formula suspension with the slack-and-low geometry Canfield Brothers is known for and radically short 414-millimeter (16.3-inch) chainstays, the Riot is the most fun and aggressive full-suspension 29er to hit the trail.

    Drool.

I'd be interested to know a ballpark frame weight, or even a real world frame weight for a Balance.

From the other thread, 7lbs for a medium without a shock is the targeted weight.

From the thread in the Canfield forum:

The Riot has gobs of tire clearance. We are running a Maxxis Minion 2.5 and have plenty of clearance for the good ole PNW mud. As far as 27.5+, the Riot is optimized to be the most fun 29er on the market. We don't have 27.5+ experience on this bike, however the extra 1/2” of BB drop would concern me.

I like it, but I'm a little concerned that the top tube is just too danged short.

I think the motto of "size by reach not TT" is especially true when you have slack actual seat tube angles. For a large, the TT is about the same as a Tallboy LT, but the reach on the Riot is 1.6" longer. The Yelli by comparison has a 0.5" longer TT than the Riot but a 1" shorter reach.

Love the look of this frame and would love to give my Yelli a brother. I'm really surprised they managed to keep the chainstays that short while packaging 140mm of travel. Nice job Canfields!

This would have been a perfect Yelli bro. For me, too. But I boguht a new FS bike in September. Man, the thought of having both bikes Canfield and 29er--and ripping fun...my wife would kill me if I sold my new Heckler now in order to get the Riot...where is that winning lottery to ket when you need it?
