Can I convert my 2011 Hardrock 29er to tubeless?

Alex rims, double wall, with Fast Trak 2.0 tires.
I am getting different answers from bike shop techs.
A couple have said I need new rims and a couple said its fine to run ghetto tubeless and a coulpe more mentioned buying kevlar bead tires in order to go tubeless.
    Thanks
Hardrock 29er, Niner EMD9, Cannondale F29, Camber Expert, 650b Nickel all gone.

I suspect you could easily convert them with either a ghetto tubeless system or through available rim strips from stans. Give stans an email with the particulars on your rims and they should be able to answer you back.

Worst case scenario easiest version would be a split tube conversion.

You shouldn't need to get new tires, especially to experiment with the tubeless, just remember to not push the pressures very high. Just get them to less than 40psi and hope they seat at that point. Blowing a bead off the rim could mean new tires no matter what and a heckuva mess.

Stans strips and sealant will do it up nicely.
