Thanks...not real practical It's like riding with a kickstand down. But it took some work to get it out of the way of the derailleur, the chain, and the foot, so I'm rather proud of myself. I do like the angle but I'm a little scared to try it on the trail.

I love this ride also. A great view the entire time! Once I kick this cold I'm going to get out and hit some other trails around the island.

This is from last week's race, and my race's start time had temperatures in the mid 40s and the finishing time was in the mid 60s. Granted the 3s and 2s started in even colder temperatures (in the upper 20s for the earliest group) so it could've been worse. This was my first race and something like 7th ride on the new bike (marin rift zone xc8), and it's also my first 29er.

Here is a pic of me at the STORM Hill Country Challenge race at Flat Rock Ranch last weekend... the bike is a carbon Orbea Alma 29er and unfortunately I DNF'd because I got a double flat! The rocks there are pretty tough and unfortunately I found out the hard way that they are harder than the Racing Ralphs I was running. :-(

This is why I ride a 29er and not a dutch bike to work:

I used Audioslave for the music, becuase hearing Chris Cornell sing reminds me that even though I think I'm incredibly cool, and even if I may have been a little bit cool in the 90's, a lot of people nowadays wish I would just shut up.

The rim size of a dutch bike is the same as the rim size of a 29-er?
Probably the smallest 29-er rider in the Dutch Mountains.

    OK?

I've never actually seen a Dutch bike in person I don't think, and I don't mean to insult them. But the picture I have in my head includes a basket, swoopy frame tubes, gigantic handlebars and big springy seats. Rim size wasn't on my mind. If you're Dutch and offended, substitute "beach cruiser" for "dutch bike".

Somehow I missed these, and, yes, that was from Waco, but I couldn't tell you which part. Waco is close enough to DFW to drive down the morning of, but far enough to make preriding a burden. Going in blind on a new bike, first race of the year after poor winter riding (started grad school, so, yeah) did not add up to an enjoyable race.

Honestly, I haven't worn a helmet one time on the mountain bike. . Its funny cuz my shirt in that pic is the star wars bounty hunter boba fett and it says " I always wear a helmet".... I don't wear em on that trail cuz its a trial I build in my back yard... Its pretty slow n safe..

This is interesting : Specialized bikes are very rare in these pics, interesting because we all know who pushes the 29 thing the most and interesting because during my yearly trip to good old USA ( west coast) 8 bikes out of 10 are Specialized.
Nothing wrong with this tho, variety is life's spice and I'm slowly dropping the big red S passion myself. Enjoying my time on Cannondale

Definitely thought that was a purple pipe. Props to all you guys that ride in the snow. If it dips below 40 here (Houston) I curl up on the couch and cancel my rides, I'm a sissy in the cold!

I made a vid over the weekend of 3rd person shots on my Tallboy LTc. Straight up TBLTC porn! I have some slo mo of the shocks taking some great rock garden trails. Check it out, I just bought the go pro on friday, and I love my bike. When I was waiting for the bike to come in/be built up, I was searching all over YouTube and all I could find were first person/POV shots. You cant even see the bike.

    I hope you enjoy.

You have no excuse for driving to work
(unless you don't have studded tires)
    (no excuse for that either)

49 in a month, no really bad crashes yet, fingers crossed, cause I already know how much longer it will take to heal.
But until then ............I'm off to the French Alps in 4 weeks again ............with the Yelli

WOW, great shot Eurospek, what shutter speed did you use? I'm guessing somewhere around 1/8-1/15th sec. Very well panned

Bottom out for sure, but not abruptly at all. I've been really impressed by the bikes ability to smooth stuff out.

Did you maintain that wheelie? Or was this shot taken at exactly the right time?
I guess that I maintained it for about 5 seconds or so on this shot. My son actually took a video of me and this is a frame from the video.

He wants to learn how to do wheelies and "bunny" hops. I have been trying to teach him. The wheelies are extensions of me showing him how to accomplish popping over curbs and other obstacles. The "bunny" hopping sort of the same thing -- help him get over logs, rocks, etc. if going the right speed to clear the obstacle.

I am good at clearing obstacles, but maintaining wheelies are hard for me. I am getting better, but that is on my 26er.

Amazing photos guys!!! Thanks for sharing those. Unfortunately here in Connecticut the only scenic views we have are nothing compared to those

Mikesee, how come your epic photos are getting distorted and stretched out? Is that a forum software thing? Just on my end?

My GoPro took 1000 or so photos yesterday... haven't gone through them yet...

Curran Creek, Idaho. If you've seen coverage of the Beaver Creek Fire out here, this is pretty much ground zero of where it started. Glad I got a chance to ride it in June before it burned.

A little taste of the shenanigans, the video has more from that day. The guy who bailed out was on a fully tricked out Bronson.

Not the same kind of 29er action, but I thought this shot came out cool.

Just took my Tallboy LTc for some gnarly trail riding in Moab Utah. I've got a short vid up of porcupine and slickrock.

I'm currently working on learning how to do drops. Manualing is new to me, too, and I totally suck, but am trying. Learning on a 29er, from what I've heard, is a bit harder than on a 26er, but I couldn't do them on those either, so
