27.5 plus to 29 formula for wheel diameter

cant find info on this anywhere.

for example, my surly ogre takes a 27.5 by 3 tire. Or a 29 by 2.5.

How do do I figure out the diameter of those wheels?

The surly folk told me a 27 x 2.75 wheel has diameter of ~723mm and a 29x2.0 has same diameter.

    how is this calculated??

    thank you

It is not perfect, but I have found it to be very useful.

The chart agrees with what the Surly folk say. - How to calculate Bicycle Wheel Size

Remember the diameter is influenced by the rim width.
My Bud 26x4.8 is not the same diameter on a 80 mm rim or a 100mm.
