Vitus 27.5 Nucleus Seat Post won't push all the way down

    Hi All,

I just bought a Vitus 27.5 Nucleus. They only have a few in stock from Chain Reaction. It rides great after assemble. However, I cannot push the seat post in beyond what's showing in the picture. I'd like to push it further. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

How far is it inserting? Picture is confusing.

Most manufactures ream there seat tubes a specific amount. This specification is not published & requires a request to the manufacture. From experience seems like 200mm insertion is common. I have had brand new frames w/ insertion problems that required the seat tube to be reamed. A good LBS should have reaming tools. I needed to install a dropper post in a frame that had a slight curve a few mm's before the reamer would stop. LBS didn't want to cut that deep so I bought the tool myself. I had it done in a few minutes. https://www.bike24.com/search?search...at+Tube+Reamer

See the attached pictures. I cannot push more into it. I tried another seat post from another bike. The seat post was a bit thinner and it can go in more.

So how far is it inserting (a measurement)? That frames seat tube looks very short. Refer to my previous answer.

Maybe the front derailleur is clamped on too tightly and constricted the tube.
Since it's a standard seat tube and not a dropper, why not just cut it down?

Sounds like, from the info you've given on the insertion of the second test post that the seat tube needs to be dressed out with a reaming tool to get full insertion. You may have to call the shops in your area to see how you can drop off the bike to get the service done.
    Nice looking bike.

If no shop can work on it because of the current restrictions you can diy a solution by seeing if some sandpaper wrapped around a thinner tube or other broom handle, etc. can clean and smooth the interior of the seat tube.

I have done the smaller post shim deal on frames w/ obstructions like large welds & suspension pivots etc. Personally, if I could avoid the undersized post and shim I would do so.
