Some more 650b vs 26" observations

I've gotten some more time on my 650b rigid and last weekend I had the chance to switch between that and a 26" with front suspension (both bikes built by Rock Lobster, both with full XTR, and both about the same size). There's a distinct difference when you get to ride the bikes back-to-back. The 650b climbed better than the 26". On balance, the 26" w/ the front suspension was faster on the bumpy downhills. The 26" felt whippier and lighter around switchbacks, but at the same time didn't feel as stable - I felt like I had to stay on top of things a bit more. In picking the bikes up I couldn't tell much of a weight difference between the two. The 650b was grippier carving around turns.

your next assignment is to do a back to back test with both bikes featuring front suspension.

You have your marching orders - now go out and ride!
