Santa Cruz Chameleon d+ vs R+

Is it worth the extra $600.00 for the R+? Also is the 2019 worth $100.00 more?

Havnt tried the r+ but the basic d plus 2018 model is finely balanced imo. I wouldnt pay that extra for better fork and equipment.
Nice very easy bike to ride as a beginner. Perfect geometry imo and that is of most importance. A tad expensive, heavy and not a racer but very solid stuff.
I ride same rekon plus tires now. Extremely fast at loose over hard. Gravel and kitty litter stuff. In dry and sand. Not good for mud and wet. Actually very bad.
Dont know about 2019 model but i would take the longest and slackest if there is any geo difference.

The R build has a Fox Rhythm fork , a very nice fork, I have one on my 5010. R build includes a dropper post. R build also has Level T brakes not the plain Level series. Also, the rear hub on the R build is an XD style freehub and includes a nicer XD cassette instead of the Shimano compatable boat anchor NX cassette. This applies to the 2018 models, the 2019's have the same differences but the D has 11 speed NX, the R has 12 speed Eagle NX, both using a Shimano style freehub.
