Brand new just picked her up and rode her home. My entry into anything bigger than 26" and planning to upgrade the brakes next with wheels and fork to follow not worried about the fork but the wheels are a schrader valve and did not want to go tubeless no matter what may of been the tires but doubt it. Already tossed the stock drivetrain.

The one that started it all. Completely different from when I got it but she's served me well. Only thing I haven't gotten around to changing was the fork.

That's a nice starter, Calvin. Steel is real, baby.

You might want to ditch the reflectors (they will likely come loose and litter the trail) and the dork disk, if applicable. And is that the fork that came stock?

Agree about steel and now were adding some constructive criticism. Yes, please remove all reflectors and dork disks from your bike before photographing. Also, drive train toward the camera unless the shot is really interesting. The background should compliment the picture, not distract. The green Intense posted by @creativefletch is probably the best pic in the thread so far.
    Let's see those 27.5 bikes!

Well thanks for the comments about what to do and what not to do ! I'll pull my head outta my ass and get rid of the reflectors asap lol and to the above question, I replaced the stock fork with the 140mm gold sektor that is on it now 👌🏼

    Just took receipt...

Just got what I believe (correct me if wrong!) to be an awesome deal for $2850 for a 2016 Specialized Camber Comp Carbon 650b. Once I hit 10 posts, I'll be able to start my own thread and elaborate....

Santa Cruz Nomad CC. Just finished building it. Epic ride/suspension tuning session is planed for tomorrow.
Used some parts from my previous bike, hence the short dropper, but 150mm one and wide carbon wheels are on to do list.

This is a trail in South Korea, in Yongin city on a ridge along what's known as Horse Mountain. The trail's been named Cemetery Ridge, and that's because what you see in the background is a massive cemetery. It's huge, and is all along that hill you can see and the one I'm standing on, off to the right. It was a good ride, though I started cramping up later on in the ride

The air quality is typical over here, I wish China would send their smog elsewhere!

Been reading up on bikes for a while trying to figure out what's next. Honed in on the 27.5 idea and steel then narrowed down from there. I liked what I read on 27.5 Plus and brought this home Friday.

Very nice feel and a bit different but impressive in every way from my 14 + year old 26" X 2.2 al hard tail. Barely got in time to ride and just a few miles but put it through some climbs, rocks and dust. Really impressed and feeling like I did my homework.

I'm 40 and this is the first bike I've been on since terrorizing the neighborhood on a bmx bike as a kid.

I'm a big motorcycle racing fan (moto gp and world sbk) and owned a couple sportbikes and work at a dealership. So I'm no stranger to 2 wheels. Just used to it having a motor. Lol!

Anybody move to 27.5 from a 29er? Would love to hear some input on why you prefer 27.5 to 29.
I'm currently on a SC Highball 29, but debating switching to a different frame like a Salsa Timberjack, or just changing to a 27.5 hardtail.

I've always ridden 29ers (Haro Mary, Salsa Spearfish, Kona Unit and a bunch of Cube Stereo 120's) but now I took a change with Cube Stereo 140 27.5. I don't "prefer" it, I just wanted to get another perspective to the sport. I've only ridden it during winter trails so far, but it does feel a bit nimbler and more active to ride than a 29er.

But that's old news, we're all been told that everywhere. I personally think that the difference is not that big after all. Traction's been the biggest difference so far. But I really do need to get more miles on it to find out the truth. If only the ice would melt off the trails here in Finland..

For tires im going with Ardents, 2.25. They seem to be pretty popular where I ride and most people I've talked to say they're a good option for the trails around here in central KY.

For wheels, was thinking about the Crank Brothers Cobalt 2, but Nashbar has a Shimano XT tubeless ready wheelset of similar weight for $220, and for a TR wheelset I feel that might be too good to pass up. Going to the LBS Saturday first to see what they might have.

I found a extremely cheap Scott Scale carbon 2016(this is why it was cheap) and I've decided to upgrade everything except the frame.

The list of work so far includes:

    Thomson Carbon bars
    Thomson Stem slammed
    Thomson seat post
    Thomson seat clamp
    Shimano XTR Race brakes
    Sram XX1 eagle drive train
    Fox Stepcast forks
    ESI grips
    DMR pedals
    Now runs tubeless

I thought the Fox Stepcast with the Kashima would look cool with the gold eagle.

This is all i can afford at the moment so i will look into wheels at a later stage when i have more spare funds.

About 3 weeks in for riding the new bike..... really enjoying the 'modern' bikes as compared to early 1990 and early 2000.

One month anniversary on the new ride.

Def enjoying the 60's and 70's temps more in the past few days. This picture is from early April.
Monday, did a short loop around the local park, wiped down the factory guck off the sides of the chain and fiddled with my new tire gauge some to discover actual tire pressures below 20 psi are not registering accurately at all on my previous gauge. Happy to have discovered that early on.
Also have a few rides and miles in testing the handlebar bag and all is secure and holding up well.

I like my new for me 27.5 Ridley Ignite aluminum 1.5 inches more than my 26" bikes. The difference in feel between the 2 sizes is subtle. This is a pic on it's test run before hitting the trails. I swore I wouldn't budge on my devotion to 26ers, but for the price of new frames and parts I couldn't resist. BTW no back pedal issues with the 73mm bottom bracket with the 2.5 mm spacer placed on the non drive side of the crank...all Shimano drivetrain (11-42 cassette) except for the Race Face NW chainring.

Well that's the last part... it's got a set of plain 32 spoke double wall alloy wheels on it rite now... but they will be Raceface and soon, maybe aeffects because there the only one that comes with the Shimano driver

Here's another of my not fancy but functional Atroz Comp from this past weekends ride. So far I've swapped the the grips out for WTB Ergo's which help me hold on with arthritic hands and wrists, and shimano m530 pedals. I'm saving for a good wheelset and an air fork next.

Welcome, technically that's a 27.5 plus. However, I hope you get lots of off road miles on it. (Also, please remove reflectors and dork disk )

How do you carry your bike to trailheads in Korea? I have not seen anyone with hitch bike racks there. I live in the States but plan to visit Korea once or twice each year. i'd like to keep one of my bikes there to ride.

2017 marin hawk hill on sale @ $1350 at san francisco's bike connection. i've swapped the saddle, stem, bars and grips almost immediately and the wheels (and a dropper post) will follow as soon as i see fit.

i'm not wild about the deore shifter as well, it just feels plain crappy compared to the SRAM X7 on my hardtail.

all in all, i dig having a dualie again--my last dualie was an '01 superlight very badly setup with its fox float R coil fork matched to the superlight's air rear.

now to get the tires and suspension fine-tuned...

Bike looks very nice. How do you like it so far? Mine is getting delivered tomorrow. I am excited as I havent had a new bike since about 1992-1993. Going to be a huge adjustment period for me.

Well...bike is nice however...mine has some issues out of the box. Check my thread below for more details...but in short...other than the problems, the bike is great.

2017 Pivot Mach 4. Did one shakedown ride and it was great. Will be making a few part swaps including wider tires.

one more of the war pig as it sits today...as much stealth as possible...i have to keep reminding myself this thing won't climb like my steel pine mountain 29'er hardtail which is only marginally lighter. i've moved the shifter around on the bars a bit and after a week of riding the bike, deore shifters aren't so bad after all.

nonetheless, for $1350 on sale, you get a fun, modern upgrade-able frame.

i can't wait to take this thing to downieville!

    2017 Scott Spark 750

Just bought yesterday afternoon. I thought I was a die hard 26er but saw this bike at a small shop in Maine and took for a test ride. While trying to decide if I should spend the money, the shop owner threw in some nice race face pedals and a shock pump plus a 15% discount off the price. It was a deal to good to let go by. I have not yet taken it on a trail but cruising around the neighborhood it is so light and nimble. Can't wait to get it on my favorite trails.Post Pictures of your 27.5/ 650B Bike-img_0766.jpg

Just got this one for a steal of a deal with my corporate discount and the Take10 promo code. Added raceface crank boots and have some other goodies on the way like bar ends in blue and some matching valve caps. Finally ordered some chain lube as well. I never had that on my very old Giant that I still have so that is a very welcome addition to the arsenal. Also, have a park tool PCS-10 stand on the way.

New (to me) Pivot Switchblade 27.5+ bike. Only one short ride on it so far, but I think it is going to be a ton of fun!

I just bought a Hawk Hill myself this past weekend. It was raining when I got home with it and has rained every day so I've only had a short ride. I'm used to SRAM shifters/derailleurs myself and the Deore does sound a little differently but I had no issues with the shifter once I adjusted it and the brake levers positions to my liking. I'm really impressed with the bike's build for the money. I'm in North Alabama and bought mine in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It will take a few rides to dial in suspension set-ups but overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Crap!! I broke my thumb earlier this year in a low-speed crash on a rocky trail so I know how easy it is to do. Hopefully I can take a few pics tomorrow. Hope you have a quick recovery.
