Maxxis Minion DHF 27.5x2.6 vs 2.5WT

I have a front wheel on the way with a 36mm internal width. I would prefer the higher volume 2.6, but don't want the sidewalls sticking out.

The WT page on Maxxis' website (Wide Trail (WT) Design | Maxxis Tires USA) lists the 2.6, but has no WT descriptor. No tire version in 2.6 has it. I have a 2.6 DHF in hand and nowhere on the tire or packaging does WT appear.

So, is the 2.6 designed around a wider rim or not? The 2.5 comes in WT and non-WT versions, so perhaps they don't bother with WT on the 2.6s which apparently only come in one flavor?

Doesn't the packaging state 30-35mm rims? I thought mine did. I'm running it on 29mm inner-width and it's nice, and 35mm shouldn't differ a great deal. It feels a lot like my DHF 2.3 did on 21mm rims, except it rolls through chunky stuff better and has more grip.

Well Specialized does a 3.0 on a 38mm, I don't think 2.6 on a 36 would be bad. Looking at their info graphics I would go 2.6 but yeah idk why they don't mark them "WT".

The way I understand it is that the Maxxis tires that are 2.4 and 2.5 are labelled "WT" if they are intended for 30-35mm rims and ALL of the 2.6 and ALL of the 2.6 tires are "Wide Trail". Some of the 2.4 and 2.5 tires are "regular", better for 24-30mm rims.
You can't buy happiness. But you can buy a bike. And that's pretty close.

    I'd vote 2.6's then
