    Evil Insurgent or Transition Patrol?

Cannot decide which bike would be better for tight switchbacks and jumping off the short drop-offs. New Patrol is alloy though. Only option would be 2017 Patrol carbon vs Insurgent Carbon. Size M. Height 5.85' (178sm)

If that's the deciding factor go for the shorter wheelbase and chainstay. Not sure what sizing you're looking at.

The new patrol is a loooooong bike, for tight riding the Evil would probably be the better choice.

I'm on a 2016 Patrol and find the bike to handle tight sections of trail exceptionally well. I really think the "tight switchback" thing is rider handling, not as much the bike. I will say the Patrol really enjoys being airborne! I'll be moving to a Guerrilla Gravity bike shortly - either a Shred Dogg or Trail Pistol.

I picked up a SBG Patrol a few days ago. I've got a general review over in the Transition forum. It's definitely a long bike, but it doesn't slow it down in the tight and twisty trails. No difference between it and my shorter wheelbase bikes on that type of stuff. Switchbacks up or down, no problem either. And the Patrol is very balanced in the air. Gotta try it to believe it, but that SBG is legit. Although if carbon is your flavor, none of what I wrote matters. Happy Riding with whatever bike you decide on, so many good ones available.

Ended up getting Evil Insurgent. Such a poppy bike: its just dying to get the front wheel up in the air. Nevertheless, it would not qualify for high speed cruiser.. especially with 170mm cranks. Specs are Lyrik 160mm, RS Monarch +, Shimano Xt 4 pistons, Sram X01 Eagle, DT Swiss EX Spline wheels, Enve Bars 800mm with 25 mm rise.

Just ordered mine as well, GX Eagle but otherwise similar. I haven't ridden the Transition bikes. I contemplated ordering one sight unseen but they're always out of stock. Hoping I made the right choice but when I demoed the Evil it was awesome for a bigger bike. It's showing up Friday and I can't wait.
