Can I put a 29 on the front of my bike?

I have a 2008 24" frame GIANT Yukon hardtail. I'm a 6'9" 300lb nubie. Everyone tells me to get a 29er. I love my current bike. Because of my weight I crush a FS bike. So I like the hardtail. My question is can I put a 29" wheel on the front of my Giant Yukon? And if so what else is required? A new fork? A new disc brake?

    Any help is appreciated.

So long as it fits, you should only need the new wheel. You can re-use the brake disc from your current wheel. The only way to see if it'll fit your specific bike/fork is to find a 29" wheel with a tire on it and see if it fits. If so, and if you really want to ride a 26" frame with a 29" wheel, then buy one. You'd be better off buying a frame/fork specifically made for use with 29" wheels. Also, don't just do everything because everyone tells you that you should.
