Been away from bikes for a few years. Single Speed recommendations?

Budget: under 700, ideally closer to 500.

Primarily will ride around town, but will do easy single track. I'll get an actual bike later.

When I was still into bikes, On One/Planet X USA was still a site, and the Nashbar Bees Knees was relatively new.

Thought about getting the Gravity 27five SS, and just upgrading the brakes to Deore. If that's my best option for closer to 500, I'd go that route.

Again, I'll get a more serious/capable bike down the road.

    Thanks

bought a Swobo Mutineer frameset with headset, stem, and rear brake caliper.

Can't really find specs on the defunct company's bike, but it looks like I may need to build a rear wheel.

I think the last year I rode a bike was when the Mutineer came out. I remember wanting to buy one but not have money cuz college stuff

Used? That's the best way to spend $500 on a bike IMO.

We don't quit riding because we get old.

Amazon and Ebay seem to have the same listing. It appears to be a stripped floor model or something.

Really hope the 135 rear dropout detail is right because I'm picking up a wheelset on Craigslist on Monday.

The frame is suspension fork adjusted/corrected, so maybe down the road I'll try that...if I can find one for a straight headtube.
