    2x to 1x drivetrain conversion
so I bought a Giant Talon 3 and I have one of those oval chainrings that i would like to put on it.

current stock setup is the 2x8... 22T/36T (i usually only ride the smaller 22T)

    and my oval is 34T

does anyone know if this is doable? i did see that the Talon 1 version of this bike comes with a 1x10 gear set up

Yes, it is possible. What make & model crank is on your bike? Ideally, post a photo.

You’ll need to remove one chainring. Chainstay clearance may determine whether you bolt your oval ring to the granny position (ideally) or the big ring position. Hence the desire for a photo.

according to the Giant website the stock set is "Prowheel forged, 22/36" and the one Id be replacing it with " AL7075 MTB Crank Narrow Wide CNC Round Oval Chainring Bolts, fit 7-11S KMC Shimano,SRAM"

    link for oval chainring:

and as far as photos go I cant seem to be able to upload photos to here.. still trying to figure out how

Okay. Maybe someone who’s familiar with the exact components you’ve described will chime in.

There are variables like bolt circle diameter that must be known to proceed. Also, you’ll need singlespeed chainring bolts (eg: shorter ones) since you’ll be eliminating one ring.

the oval chainring comes with the crank arm attached i just have to pop the 2x rings and arm off and put the oval ring and arm on.

i have an older 2019 Talon 1 with the 2x crank. I switched over to 1x. The 104BCD you posted will work.
