    29er tyre size for 69er

    Hi guys

I have gotten hold of a rigid frame that I am building up. While fidling the other day I noticed the amount of clearance I had was quite big. I did the math and in theory I can jam a 29er wheel in there and make a 69er

29er aren't that common here in South Africa yet, so I don't know anyone who owns one to try it out.

Could you guys possibly do me a favour and measure the outside diameter of your tyre when mounted up and post it here with what tyre you use.

    Thanks

Just did up a 650b wheel/tire set and couldn't even tell you what the diameter on that is...maybe this helps? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/29er_(bicycle)

PS Felt lazy after that post, so went and measured my 650b wheel with Pacenti NeoMoto 2.3s, 27 5/8"

you can fit a 29x2.1 in a rigid fork with a 445 Axle-crown (Salsa, On-one, Surly) I have tried these three 26" wheel rigid and they clear a 29er with anywhere from 1/2-1" clearance

my 29x2.1 Maxxis Ignitor is 14.5" or 37cm from center axle to outside of tire, and 28.75" or 73cm diameter

    Thanks

    Thanks guys that's great

650Bs are even less common here than 29ers but will keep a look out for some.

Looks like I'll have to keep on the small side of 29er tyres.

When I do a roll out with an avg between most 29er 2.1" tyres it normally figures out somewhere around 2265mm, the actual circumfrence without me sitting on it and compressing the tread is more like 2200mm - hope that helps.
