    Tire help

I'm rebuilding an 08 Giant Trance x1 and am having trouble with the back tire rubbing where seat post and chainstay meet, had to let air out just to install it. I had 26x2.20 and wanted to go thicker with a 2.40 DHRII but the knobbies are too tall. Should I go back to the 2.2, there aren't many options in that size. Any help appreciated.

Tried using 2.2's in the rear? For example, I can't use Schwalbe Magic Mary's on the rear (26x2.35) as it rubs from time to time but no problems using it in the front. For the rear, i'm using Schwalbe Nobby Nic (26x2.25) which work just fine (part number #11601030)

If it is rubbing and that is causing concern, then either a smaller tyre, or find a tyre that says it's 2.4 but is undersize and measures smaller than it says (so basically just get a 2.2)
All the gear and no idea.

I have a Pivot 5.7c that I kept for guests to ride with a 26x2.3 Maxxis Aggressor on the back. Much faster than a DHRII. It measures 2.26" wide and my best guess as to height above the rim is 2.2". I have a DHF up front. It's a cheaper option than a Magic Mary front - NoNoi rear (which is a great combo!).
