    Fork travel 2001-2004(maybe)

First post but been reading for a while. I just recently bought a what was said to be a 2003 model year rocky mountain edge full suspension bike, used off craigslist. I need to replace the marzocchi z.5 (only sticker on it and that's what it says),from what I can find its supposed to be 130mm travel fork. What I'm wondering is this correct, and would it hurt anything if I used a 100mm rockshox recon silver tk solo? I only ride easy to moderate single track. thanks

Basically you would be changing the geometry of the bike. Depending on the head tube angle, you will be changing trail and the wheel base as well as the bottom bracket height.
This would translate to smaller distance from ground and less stability at high speeds.
If you find those changes to not be that meaningful to your riding style, feel free to make them!

That's what I'm wondering if it'll change it to much. I also thought about stepping up to a 27.5 with 100-120mm travel to try and keep angles closer to the same. Can the rockshox I have be changed to 120mm?

27.5 with 100mm of travel would pretty much bring the geometry closer to the original (slight steeper head angle), while 27.5 with 120mm would bring it with a slightly wider head angle. Both would be less intrusive than a proper 26" fork with 100mm travel though.
I am not sure that all RS Recon can be changed by the spacers, but disassembling the air spring would provide you with the answer of whether it is possible or not (and how easily it can be done).
