Will older xx1 crankset with direct mount boost chainring work for boost

Posted in sram forum but figured someone here may know since I hope to use it for a 29+ bike with boost hubs.
I have an older xx1 crankset and was wondering if I used the direct mount sram x-sync chainring that is boost compatible (3mm offset) if this will work for frame that is set up for boost? I wasnt sure if just a chainring change will work or if I have to buy a brand new boost compatible crankset. Thanks

Yes, just swap the chainring and you're good.

    Walt is correct.
But you may want to try it with your existing non-boost chainring. I swapped back to a non-boost ring as it improved my chainline and the chain still cleared the tire.
