    Salsa "Pony Rustler" and "Deadwood"

Not sure I like the names much, but here is a little on the Pony Rustler:

The Deadwood is a 29+ version of the Fargo, but they only released one build kit and one (bland) color scheme for this new model. Any ideas why? It seems like it could have the potential to be an ultimate go-anywhere for any length of time type bike, but as it is now, I am not super excited about it.

If it wasn't for the Boost 148 I'd just convert a 29er but I think the Boost is worth waiting for.

I don't understand the Boost thing at all on the Deadwood, it's not like the chainstays are especially short. Also, $1100 for a Taiwanese frameset seems pretty dear.

    RIGID, not "ridged" or "ridgid"
PEDAL, not "peddle." Unless you're selling stuff

Boost is the new normal so everything will have Boost whether it needs it or not.

I agree $1100 seems high. I hope that's not the new normal. I paid ~$600 for my Krampus frame/fork. I felt like that was a reasonable cost.

Do you get the carbon fork included for that price? If so I don't think the price is too bad. If the fork is not included than yeah it is a bit of a rip off.

Carbon Pony Rustler looks pretty tempting. Will be interesting to see what else gets announced this fall, but I suspect next spring I will be adding some sort of FS 27.5+ or 29+ to the "fleet"...

Pony Rustler and the Scott Genius+ are the top of my list. Looking forward to seeing one in person.

Today was a good day. SALSA CYCLES DEMO DAY!
I took a ride on a Deadwood (see below) and a Cutthroat. I interviewed some friends who rode the Pony Rustler too.

Here is the Deadwood video link:

I rode the PR a few weeks ago. The carbon paint job didn't do much for me, but I was glad to see they hid the stupid name on the seat stay instead of the usual location on the top tube.

The Fox 34 version I rode was a blast. I bet with carbon hoops and light tires you could hit 25lbs on this bike.

Not sure I'd replace my Bucksaw with this bike. I don't need the travel of the PR, and I like the versatility of 26x4 and 27.5x3 wheels that I can use on the BS.

Since Pony Rustler seems to be an unpopular name I thought of an alternative.

    Introducing the new.....Donkey Toucher.

You need to check Events on their Facebook page. The link might work, for a while.

On their new look website they have a link to their demo schedule on the home page.
