    BB For 2017 Stache 7

I'd like to replace my stock BB with this Wheels Mfg BB: https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-bracket...nks-black.html

My crank set is the stock Sram X1 1200 with a PF 92 BB. Will the above Wheels BB work with my crank?

It's very well made and there've been no more clicks and creaks since the install. I went for the angular contact bearings too.

Excellent choice. Their pf30 thread together bottom brackets are great, so I can imagine the pf92 will be no different.

Just received my BB today, looks like a quality unit. The bearing width / depth on the drive side is not as wide as the non drive side. Basically a fatter bearing is on the non drive side. Is yours like this as well?

Just to be clear, I know diameter is 24 & 22. Talking about the actual width of bearings.

    Thanks

I don't remember, but having a look at their install PDF the bearings do appear to be different widths, with the fatter being on the non-driveside. Yours sounds correct

Will the Stache only run a 24mm crank spindle diameter? I was hoping to be able to run a 30mil crank, but not sure with the way its not completely round in the shell. I did not see a BB92 thread together unit with a 30mm spindle bearings on their site, so probably a no-go. I think I would much rather go thread together over PF any day!

For a thread together BB your choice is either 24mm or GXP Sram. The shell diameter is too small for thread together 30mm. I don't believe that there are any thread toghether DUB BBs yet. The 2019 Stache 7 and 9.7 uses Sram DUB PF which is a 28.99mm crank that is supposed to be the best of both worlds as far as weight and durabilty.
I have used the standard Wheels Mfg. BB92 bottom bracket, not the thread together type now for a couple of years without issue.

Good to know, thanks! I might be willing to try the new DUB interface if it does indeed fit the PF92 on the 2017 alum Stache. Guess I won't know until I pick up the BB and try it out. These have been out since Jan, so there should be some real time feedback by now I would guess. I have always favored Shimano cranks, but might be willing to move over to SRAM if it holds up long-term.

Here is the message I sent and then received from Wheels Manufacturing, hope this helps clear things up for the Stache:

I have a 2017 Trek Stache alumn. frameset, it is new with no existing bottom bracket. I believe it has a press fit 92 BB and wanted to see what you recommend. The Stache has a unique bb shell that protrudes inward due to the tire clearance, thus the shell is not perfectly round internally. I would like to run a 30mm spindle, either race face or another. Please advise on the correct BB for this frame.

    Wheels response:

    Hi there. here you go.
